    formula for body fat %

Hey Everyone, I need someone that knows his body fat to test the accuracy of the formula. It should only be of by a few tenths of a point. I got out of a magazine.

    Thank You

    Hydrostatic weighing for body fat%

Multiply your weight (in the nude) by 1.082
    Example: if you weigh 200,
    (200) X (1.082) =216.40

    Add 94.42
    Example: 216.40 + 94.42 = 310.82
    *** (Weight factor) ***

Your waist measurement (at navel) X 4.150
Example: if your waist is 34”
    (34) X (4.15) = 141.1
    *** (Waist factor)***

    Weight Factor – Waist Factor
    Example 310.82 – 141.1 = 169.72
(169.72 is your lean body mass)

Your Actual weight – Lean Body Mass
    Example: 200 – 169.72 = 30.28
    (30.28 is your body fat)

    (Body Fat/ Actual Weight) X (100)

    Example: (30.28/ 200) X (100) = 15.14%

Your Body Fat would be 15.14%

The only tests I'd recommend are hydrostatic ones @ major Universities every few MONTHS.

All the other tape, hand-held gadget crap things, only serve to provide MAJOR head games and give readings that are all over the place.

My motto is, "If you still have to take bodyfat readings, you're still fat".

I tell my clients to put down the calipers, and get on the treadmill.

YUP! ultimate, if they have someone use a formula that is so off, Can you imagine how worthless the product(NO2) is?

UMass should have one. If your in that area, The Harvard Fatiuge Lab has one. But... Hydrostatic will only be correct if the subject can release all of their residual air volume... underwater. 99% cannot do it... nobody likes being underwater, out of breath. If you can find someone who know how to use calipers (Lange ONLY) ... you can get within 2-3%...

It said that I was around 11.76% which I think is pretty accurate right now. Maybe I'm a little bit less but I thought this test worked alright!
