Wash your hands and just wipe the injection site with an alcohol swab.

Make sure your deep enough also.
You can be very clean on your end. But sometimes the gear you get is dirty. And that might cause an infection.
you should know that you can't ever be sterile. you can follow clean procedures but in the end you will always inject something dirty. unless you have a sterile room in your house...
make sure you hold you gear up to the light and like at it close. if you see anything init at all you should get a sterile vial and filter it. after you filter it make sure you check it 1 more time
Wash your hands, rub the top of the vial with an alcohol swab, and rub the injection site with an alcohol swab and you're in pretty good shape..
I always inject after I shower (anti-bacterial soap, etc...). I think taking a hot shower with anti-bacterial soap will do the job better than swabbing only the area you are going to inject with an alcohol swab (although I still use one on the rubber stopper when I draw).
Interestingly the alchohol wipes only clean away dirt, they dont actually disinfect. If you really want to be crazy you can wipe the area with Betadine before you shoot. I only use the alchohol and I have had no issues
make sure the alchohol is dry or the pin will burn a bit going in
Omg thats the worst! its the only time i have a painful injection.... cept for this one time i was near a nerve that kinda made my whole leg feel like it was on fire lol...Quote:

Wash hands, dry on towell.
Break ampule, draw, change needles, leaving clean needle sheathed.
Remove clothing where injection will be.
Wash hands twice in a row, then let air dry, not blowing on them.
Open alcohol swab #1, swab area with alcohol, let dry.
Carefully unsheath needle, stick, aspirate, inject, remove needle.
Resheath needle, open alcohol swab #2, swab area again and slightly massage (with alcohol pad, yes, ive never had alcohol actually go into injection area, but i dont press TOO hard)
I will not put clothes back on until bleeding totally stops.
I dont even turn the faucet off with my hands, i use my forearms. Im like a god**** doctor.
lol i think it's ok to put clothes back on even with a little blood.... one of the functions of blood coming out is to prevent anything from comign in... so even if by chance you were to get something there the blood coming out in theory would flush it out...Quote:
