finasteride usually takes so time to get working....imo take 2-3 months in advance for dht blocking properties to kick in

The actual medical data shows it reaches maximum dht supression in 14 days. If you know you are prone to male pattern baldness take a mg per day starting now until they come out with something better. There are long term studies on it up to 10 years of use showing it's safety and effectiveness at reducing dht.

Yeah its 3-12 to see results in your hair...meaning as its growing out of your skin but the dht suppression takes place in your body in 14 days. :-)

I know I have seen more studies, this is just one I found real quick via a google search.

The part 2 is for doses that are normally used and it was a 14 day study of reduction of dht in the body, all supression then reversed by another 14 days after:

Dutasteride is 10x better than finasteride, IMO. I've tried both. I'll never cycle without duta again. In fact its opened up some doors that have been closed due to hair loss.

Interesting. I used proscar (1.25mg) daily from Aug 1998 to Dec 11, 2002. From Dec 12th 2002 until today I have used .5mg avodart (dutaseride). I did not see much improvement in hair loss over proscar. I usually would recommend people start with proscar because its cheaper and does a good job for most.

Proscar is 70% dht suppression (type 2)
Avodart is 90-94% supression (type1 and type 2)

I saw a big improvement when I added minoxidil 5% and Nizoral. They seemed to all help each other do a better overall job.
