Has anybody read the book Guide to Andro by Dr Lenard ?
Could somebody elaborate some more on the toxicity of prohormones or andro ?
for example when i bumped into this link http://www.disinfo.com/archive/pages/review/id1110/pg1/
that says among other things that : Liver toxicity, hepatitis, and
liver cancer can develop with drugs ( AAS ), because they are
man-made substances that must be processed by the liver. The liver, of
course, is not designed to handle these synthetic molecules; it lacks
the proper enzymes and cofactor to do the job properly, and this can
result in a flood of toxins that, over a long period of time, can
destroy this vital organ. This is not the case with Androstenedione .
. . [It] 'belongs' in the body. When metabolized in the liver (or
other places in the body), it doesn't even cause a ripple; no useless
or toxic metabolites are formed."
or this link about the book itself http://www.eroscent.com/a101-andro-study.html
that among other things says that :
For example, notes Dr. Lenard, the dose of androstenedione used in the
study – 300 mg per day, swallowed – may have been inadequate to induce
a significant boost in testosterone levels. "When you swallow andro
pills, most of the active androstenedione gets metabolized in the
liver. Only a small portion survives to add to the body's testosterone
pool. You get much better absorption by taking andro as a sublingual
(under the tongue) spray or lozenge, which bypasses the liver. So,
this result tells us nothing about the potential effects – good or bad
– of sublingual andro. And given the lack of a testosterone boost,
it's hardly a surprise that there was no significant difference in
muscle mass associated with androstenedione, compared with placebo,"
Lenard explains.
how toxic is it, specially the one you put under your tongue ?
I have not been able to come across relevant articles that direct me to the belief that andro is toxic. however when alt and ast reading are 10-20 times higher than average a condition of hepatotoxicity might be present on the system, whether this condition is set by a viral hepatitis or anything related to it, that i do not know.
again, according to the doctors the reading itself should not be taking literally as a pattern to follow up or diagnose anything.
but my question still stands: how toxic is it ?
