Androstenedione over the counter only if you are over 40?

Androstenedione cannot be sold to anyone under the age of 40? is this correct? i was in gnc today and as i referred to it "andro" she told me that they had it but she couldn't sell it to me. that it is illegal to anyone under the age of 40? is this correct? she also told me i had no business using it.... is that a fair assumption... or was this chick just looney?
