Sources and Source Checks
Twenty or so source checks fill my inbox everyday. Rarely do I ignore private messages. However, the situation and approach dictates my guidance. Allow me to illustrate:
"hey is source xyz legit?"
yes, no, so i hear from abc crowd, reputation of good/bad commincation/service/quality...so on and so forth
"do you know of xyz?
yes, no, vaguely, sounds familar...specify what you want to get out of me or get a single word response. (and yes, I know when you are fishing for contact info)
"is terrible google search engine website imabuttpipe/symatech.com legit?"
Please dont ask these questions
"is iveseenthissite'sadonanothersite.com legit?"
maybe, sure, whatever...take ease of access for what it's worth. adjust your security accordingly then maybe the answer leans more towards approval
"do you recognize [email protected] for raws?
yes, no, that name is hilarious, ...roll of the dice as this sector has so many variables (communication barrier, shipping, etc)
At the end of the day, I do not and will not back up any sources 100%. Therefore, it is simply impossible for me to put anyone's mind at ease 100%. I will never be able to keep up with every new source that enters the market, nor will any staff, anywhere. Please continue to do source checks, but understand the etiquette and dont abuse it. thanks guys

"Slow down" is my response to that guy.

Very good post and something I have always found to be helpful to people asking for help is to say Please and Thank You.
The Mods on this site seem to go way out of their way to be helpful. I have only been here a short time and I have learned so much and have even been saved by great information.
Thanks to all
Oldman

I can only imagine newbs everyday asking ..."Hey wuts da cheapest best source u can advise me? Ya know I wanna get big by tomorrow n all"
Then when they get the FO they go bitch about our mods to other boards. I can name a few that I know that did that. Pathetic!
BTW good post vette.

hey vette it doesn't look like any newbies responded to ur post but i just had to say that what u do is greatly appreciated by people like me....the guys that r new to this board just don't have any idea as to how much time and effort the vets and mods put into it EVERY day! i mean, twenty source checks a day? that's a hell of a lot of work for one guy. and that doesn't even include the replies to all of the posts, either. anyway, just wanted to let u and all the other senior guys know that people are grateful even if it doesn't always seem like it....
