what do you guys perfer?in the oven or on top of the stove?

i ask this because ive always made my gear on top of the stove on a pan filled with water...only to have trouble making winny that someone recommended using the oven at like 300 degrees..after i did that i realized how easy it was just put it in and leave it for alittle bit...dissolved very nicely..i would think oven would be better because u can accuratly put it on how hot you want and then you could just put it at the cemicals melting point so you dont make it too hot..but what do i know....thats why im asking this on the thread...also its way my convient to put it in the oven because i have roomates and the last thing i need is for someone to go into the kitchen and see a vial with a needle coming out the top and for me to get kicked out the house...
