    Pain Killers

Had surgery last week and doc gave me Toradol and it had no effect. Now I am on Darvocet and still in pain. Anyone know of a stronger pain med the doc can give me, cause I think I am immune to pain killers.

toradol is an anti-inflamitory. Darvacet is about the same... What kind of surgery did you get and I will make my best recommendation.

Medicine is almost a hobby to me... LOL, not in the medical feild but did some schooling in it. Plus my doctors usually ask me my thoughts before handing out recommendations(kinda funny).

Been better, but been worse. So no complaints. Nice to see you bro.

oxycotin is a really strong pain medication. Be careful though because alot of people get addicted to them.

I had a sesamoid bone removed from my foot. They put a bandage on it, and I have a boot that I need to walk on as much as possible to get the blood flowing back into that area., but when I wake up in the morning the pain is out of this world. I thought that Darvocet was a pain killer..Thanx

it depends on how well you know your doctor and in some cases how old you are. If you know your doctor well and he dosent see you as some punk trying to get pain meds to abuse or sell them he would give you oxy's. But your right on luca that you would need to impress upon him the fact that your still in ALOT of pain.

What is in Darvocet is week, there is more acetametiphen(tylenol) than pain killer...

You could ask as suggested above for 5mg tabs of vicodin or loritab both are hydrocodone. But really your doctor may just call you a pussy. If you want to take a higher dose of darvocet but the APAP content is too high, crush them up into some water like 3-4 and let them soak overnight. Strain in the morning through a coffee filter. This is a high dose without liver strain. It will taste like crap but will work.

They removed a bone from your foot, that sounds pretty serious. How long is it going to keep you out of the gym?

there is stuff called oxycodone that is not the controlled release like oxycontin so it doesnot have the same mgs as the other. they work well. I am like you painkillers do nothing to me. These are ok doc will give em to you. Do not get oxycontin they are bad news.

Thanks, I might try that. The doc told me that some people react different to each drug, so maybe I will ask him for vicodin. I don't even touch oxy's, heard to many bad stories, but each day is getting better, its just the morning are rough, and need a good 1hr to get up and moving.

I can actually go to the gym right now and do any upper body exercise that is not weight bearing on my foot. I am scared though that I might knock into something, or drop a dumbell. I do crunches on the floor, and walking with a cane is a workout.!!! But just blowing my nose feels like the stitches are going to pop, I'll be back in the gym by the end of this week. I am going crazy in my house, and can't drive for 2 weeks..ahhhhh
