Should a newbie have an initial full blood work up to establish his baseline, or is this unnecesssary as long as blood work is done prior to beginning subsequent cycles?

yes this is a good idea
Yeah, it's obviously a good idea, but is there a real need for this? Or is okay to wait?

I think I see what you're getting at. No, it's not imperative that you have initial blood work done. Prior to beginning successive cycles it's more important that your levels fall within the range of normalcy, not so much your specific baseline. Of course the latter is preferable, but the range is what we use.

I think the referance ranges are better to go with than ur own baselines (lipid profile).. I mean if your normal baseline is off already then I would be extra careful or even think about meds if the values get too messed up during a cycle.
That's exactly what I was wondering!
Thanks for interpreting and answering magic. And thanks also hippo.

The most important thing to check before starting is liver values. B/C unlike cholesterol/triglycerides the numbers dont really mean anything unless you compare the values to past blood tests.
Fellas, I will perform internet searches, but off hand do you know where I can find normal lipid panel (blood work) ranges by age?

I can give em for u but u will find em on google too.. no problems finding them.. they differ a bit depending on the lab etc.
