    Paxil(ssri)/T3 interaction for weight loss??

Hey guys, im on this forum called, Paxilprogress.org, its for people coming off of antidepressants, esp paxil. I have ssri induced weight gain that does NOT come off... I was wanting to take a t3 cycle, up to 50mcg for 4-6wks and I posted this up on the paxil forum to see if anyone else had any experience or advice. Not only did the moderator take my post down but he said this....

can someone tell me what it means??

This is a very dangerous suggestion. Cytomel carries a black box warning for not doing exactly what you are thinking about.

Drugs with thyroid hormone activity, alone or together with other therapeutic agents, have been used for the treatment of obesity. In euthyroid patients, doses within the range of daily hormonal requirements are ineffective for weight reduction. Larger doses may produce serious or even lifethreatening manifestations of toxicity, particularly when given in association with sympathomimetic amines such as those used for their anorectic effects.

This drug should be used for those who are thyroid deficient, NOT for weight loss.

Sound like your moderator is quoting what he's read straight from wherever he read it from. What he writes sounds like it is comming out of a robot.

I took Paxil for a long time, and I'll tell you, (as you probably know) it's hard to stop taking it.
You will lose the weight over time.
If you have to start another antidepressant though, make sure that it will NOT cause you to gain weight.

Paxil was the DEVIL! I so miss the "brain shocks" :rolleyes I was fortunate and didn't get any weight gain. It did what it was suppose to do for me, but it was disturbing coming off.

I'm on Celexa and I use it for the proverbial "safety net" while "on". It has helped, but only to a degree. I have seen it backfire in friends though and make their lives living hell. Just be careful and pay attention to your body and what it tells you.

They used the anti-depressant/anti-anxiolytic as a safety net and it actually made them worse when they were on cycle. They went through dosage modifications and 1 actually switched meds and got on something else that didn't do a thing for him. Some people just can't use AAS. That is exactly what my doctor told me too when I was talking about my increased anxiety while on.

My bottom line is: it SUCKS to take meds, but I've been on them for 10 years. *sigh*
