Maniac, I know some people are coming off a little abrasive, and it's probably making you not want to listen to them. They're just being blunt because they're trying to get through to you. So far, there has been a wealth of wisdom posted on this relatively new thread. There are many reasons why you shouldn't be taking AS.

First, if you are not gaining now you don't have a good diet. I understand that you have a fast metablism; however, if a person consumes more calories than they metabolize, they WILL GAIN WEIGHT!!! That is a scientific fact. A lot of skinny people feel like they eat a ton of food when usually they are just binging on junk food for one meal of the day. Most of the guys on this board are consuming between 500-1000 calories five to six times a day. If you're not gaining, eat more- even if you think you're already eating a lot.

Second, your workout routine (from what you've posted) is not even a workout. Everyone on this board spends anywhere from 5-10 hrs a week in the gym just lifting weights. You have to at least (even for a beginner) be putting 4-6 hrs a week into a calculated routine to achieve growth. I emphasize the word calculated because if you do the crap routines that you did in the Air Force or the ones you see other people doing, you are just the blind following the blind.

The third and perhaps the biggest reason you should do AS is your age. As has been previously mentioned, at your age your body is like a steroid factory. If some of the 30 and above members on this board could get as much natural testosterone as you they probably wouldn't even take steroids . It isn't recommended to take AS until your 25. I can understand if maybe you're in your early 20's, have a good diet, workout routine, great muscle mass, low BF %, and have just hit a plateau and are looking for something to make more gains, but you're 19, don't have a good diet or workout routine, and you don't have a foundation of muscle mass which is necessary before taking AS. Understand, people here didn't start taking roids to become big, they started to become BIGGER!

I know it is difficult for you to listen to anything anyone says that doesn't include "You should be taking this much of this, this many times a week", but please listen to the advice these guys are giving you. If you buy roids, you WILL NOT gain, and, at best, you will be throwing your money away; at worst, you will do some serious health damage to yourself.

Go to Barnes and Nobles or Amazon.com and buy a good bodybuilding book. Musclemag's Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding is a great book that gives good advice on dieting and even workout routine templates. Flex magazines HUGE is also a great book for beginners that pretty much walks you through a year of working out and dieting as you become an intermedia bodybuilder. Arnold's book is good, but keep in mind his routines are very unrealistic for a novice.

I promise you, if you get your diet straight, get into a good routine, you will make gains so fast people will think you're taking roids even though you're not!

Arnold's book is good though. I still to this day incorporate some of his techniques and methods into my workout and have made pretty good gains.
But it's definately not for a beginner.

you dont understand AAS, it isnt an alternative, its an adition, it just makes it so you can eat more and store more and work harder and rebuild faster if you are not working and eating nothigns going to happen except the side effects and shrunken nuts

seems like crew has given you a lot of advice so i'll try to keep this simple for you. if you ever want to excel at something to your fullest potential you've got to study it until total mastery is achieved. you've got to really study the boards here on nutrition and exercise before you start to study what anabolics can do. here's your first homework assignment in order to see if you have what it takes to gain: go to the store and buy a dozen eggs, a large bottle of cottage cheese, some whole grain rice, yam, gallon of water, two chicken breasts, 2 cups whole grain oat meal, and then eat it all in one day spaced out in six meals. then do it again tomorrow, and the next day, etc. then start to study your exercise routine.

now dont' get me wrong, this will be be tough for someone who is inexperienced like you, but you've got to get more quality food in you. in a typical day i eat two dozen egg whites, 6 chicken breasts, 2 cups whole grain oats, 2 cups whole grain rice, a yam, two cans of tuna, one pound of chicken, three gallons of water, 2 apples, 2 bananas, 1/2 pound turkey.... a total of at least 5000 clean calories a day.

i walk around all day feeling like i'm ready to heave, and i've grown to hate food sometimes, but i keep eating... you know why? because i'm in control of my destiny. i realize that there are a ton of people out there with better stats than mine, but i've adopted the belief that i am completely capable of accomplishing my goals as long as i do the right things, work hard, and be patient. you need to adopt similar beliefs and no hiding behind anabolics.

there's no point in building your body if you can't build your character, discipline, and work ethic along with it.

there's no shortcuts to places worth going.

    good luck,
    -Tank75
