well theres one guy at my work, he walks with a limp. first i thought he was pretending to act all cool but he then told me later that his father once took steroids, which caused him to walk with a limp, i think one leg is bigger than the other. now he says his father is depressed and cant even look him in the eyes cos of what happened.

id jus have the baby first then take roids after to be safe, unless u want the same to happen dude.

my advice... better safe than sorry

i think its funny when guys think aas causes birth defects. nothing to worry about. aas does not effect your DNA. if you have sperm to shoot than you are good to go.

It may kill all your swimmers and make pregnancy impossible after a few weeks. But the only known disaster is if Mom took AAS while pregnant... like virilizing a female fetus... women on AAS must be very careful and always employ some form of birth control. But for men, nothing known for sure other than testosterone can be an effective contraceptive for many.

I did a search on the web and I can't find anything that points to birth defects because the guy took gear at the time of conception. With that being said...I am a female and even if I was told that gear doesn't cause birth defects, I would spend the whole nine months worrying about the baby having birth defects. You don't have to wait the whole nine months to start, just until she gets pregnant.

Like the others have said. No matter how much research we have done on this there is nothing leading to birth defects. I my self have done a lot to try and see if it does ot not.

You need to play it safe. If your not on cycle just get her knocked up then go on. There are a lot of guys on the bord that have kids that are 100% healthy and they were on. But i would not advise this.

Yeah, for the sake of uncertainty and Murphy's Law... I would suggest staying clean while trying to conceive, if at all possible. Hormone's play many games in the human body.

Everyone knows breast milk = best. ;-)

On the contraception side, Testosterone isn't going to affect the sperm's characteristics...only production of said sperm.

If you were running IGF-1 or HGH, I'd definitely advise you to stop since those affect mechanisms in the body and might cause cellular mutation.

I am a firm believer in PATIENCE, so just wait a couple months until you and your wife have done everything you can to PREVENT any kind of random anomaly from occurring.

Your DNA might still produce some kind of genetic mutation, but would you ever be able to live with yourself if your baby had some large flaw and it might be because you were impatient to start a cycle?

As a married man, act like a man and think about your wife and future child.

Some drugs can damage sperm, but thats the whole point of shooting 100 million of the buggers at once, all the retarded ones swim around bumping heads while the fit little buggers shoot off and win the race.

my baby boy is perfectly healthy, but if you love and respect your wife you will put her and the baby before any selfish reasons, especially cause you want to take AS - that's just bullshit.

I have heard that proviron helps with sperm levels while trying to conceive. (I could be wrong, maybe someone else knows???)

I can say with pretty good confidence that gear wont cause birth-defects. Its actually on the top 10 list of most common questions to preagnancy-help/info lines here. They also say that its safe and their info comes from some national teratologic institute (or sumin like that).

I am sorry but did you leave you commen sense at work today ? If i was planning on having a baby i wouldn't take ANYTHING !!!!!!!!!!!!
Play it safe, its a new life that you are making. I am sure you can go a few months without gear. Sorry but post like this really upset me.

My guess is that the doctor didn't know what caused the birth defect and the father admitted to steroid use while trying to come up with ANYTHING that could have caused it to blame it on. The doctor, not knowing jack about steroids, heard that magic word "steroids" and was like, "Ah yes, steroids. That is it!" With all of the misinformation out there on steroids it's easy to pass blame onto them.

Well worse case senerio she gets pregnant and you have the baby and there is something wrong and you have taken steroids you will always wonder if that was the cause and no one will convince you it wasn't... but if you do not take them and something happens you can rest assured it wasn't from them.... no good reason to put either of you thru it... now get busy...

my oldest sister was in town the other week and my other sister was using and ointment for my nephews rest and my oldest sister swore to high heaven that it wasn't good for the baby since it supposidly had "steroids" in it. Pissed me off that I told her to shut up about "steroids" unless she had anything educated to say about them that she didn't hear on the 11 o'clock news - she couldn't say shit, and then when I told her that thousand of males are prescribed them for HRT - oh, i didn't know that, i've just heard how bad they are for you... I should have kicked her out of my parents house, lol.

Yeah, i'm thinking the same thing --- my girlies dad was a competitive bodybuilder for many yrs in the 80's and of course getting down and i think that his use may have givin her sensitive skin and certainly contributed to her very muscular disposition and ability to train like she does

well it is pretty well documented in many medical articles that steroid use while getting ur woman preagnant possesses no bigger risk to birthdefects and such.. ofcourse new info could arise still but this is a matter where official opinion would be very easy to sway to the other direction and since it hasnt its pretty clear to me there is no evidence whatsoever that even hints that steroids could cause such things. (in males that is)

Wether or not steroids cause or don't cause birth defects is not the questions to ask yourself. It should be what if something happened and my child had autism, birth defects or any numerous complications and you or your wife had any doubt about what could have caused this. It would ruin your life and you would feel guilty forever. I think you know this already.

Androgens cetainly affect sperm motilty and health, and the way they penetrate the egg

but won't affect the DNA from what i understand. Please don't take my word on any of this.
