Injection followed by coughing. Bad spot?

I've been cycling for about 4 years, 3 or 4 times a year, so I consider myself seasoned on giving myself injections. Two weeks ago I injected on my right cheek and immediately started coughing for about 5 mins. Following week, left side, no problem. This week, right side, coughing again. My throat feels like I just inhaled a cigar and chest is tight. No bubbles in the tube and I only injected 1.5cc and this is about my 5th week. Anyone know what the hell this is??

Sounds like you nicked a vein. Not a big deal, but I'm sure many will vouch that we've been through it and the first experience and sometimes subsequent experiences with this cough can be a bit frightening.
You'll be alright bro. Try injecting a little slower. This has been known to help avoid this problem.

Yeah, I'll spare you on the details of the panic attack! Since this happened twice in the same general area do I need to inject further away or avoid that side for a while? And, this time I did actually inject very slowly hoping to stop it in case it happened again but no such luck. Thanks for the quick reply!

You just need to remember to aspirate and then pull out (making sure to change your pin!) at any sign of blood.

You can inject as slow as you like. If your in a vien its not good. Aspirate , you should see few tiny air bubbles. If you see blood change your spot. You inject slow that way if you are in a vien you`ll know it before everythings injected. Recommened no more then 1cc a min. Your muscle also needs to absorb the oil.

If you move the needle around after aspirating you risk hitting a vein while injecting.

I've tried aspirating several times and ALWAYS got blood so injected anyway and never had issue. I'll start again on the next one and see how it goes. If you're stacking, are you supposed to inject each seperately? I had always combined them in the same shot. (feeling completely uneducated at this point)

I allways aspirate and I have had this happen to me. I also get an alchol taste in my mouth and a strange feeling, like a buzz almost, on the really bad ones. just cause you aspirate and dont see blood does not mean this will not happen to you.

u can shoot the same spot, just move like an 1/8 of an inch laterally. remember a vein is not verywide and usually runs down the leg (not always, but usually) so look at the old dot and go a lil over or under. always aspirate . if u get blood and its bright red then it could be blood from adipose. if u get dark, almost black blood then DO NOT SHOOT. dark blood means oxygen which means blood vessel (artery) and that's worse than a vein
