    Cycle After Layoff

Hello Bros. I'm back after about a six month layoff from lifting. It hasn't been a total layoff b/c I made it to the gym about 1x per week. Anyway, I have done about 4 previous cycles and was around 220lbs and 11%bf. Now in am 195 and soft. I started back up 2 weeks ago. When do you think it would be OK to start a new cycle?

I would say wait at least 4 months. I dunno, I would say anyone who has had a 'layoff' from lifting wouldn't be ready for a while.

I still hit the gym maybe 1x per week so I think my tendons, etc. are still in OK shape. Also, my muscle memory seems to be coming back quickly. This was my first long break in 9 years of lifting. Anyone? I think I'm ready to rock again.

You are probably right but patience is not one of my virtues. I'm just so fired up to be back in the gym that I want to "jumpstart" things. I realize that my body is not what it was 6 months ago, but I ready want to get back to where I was ASAP. I guess that's why I am in a rush - because I'm pissed at what I lost and want it back.

I know what you're saying about wanting it yesterday. If I were you I would get my diet and training in check 100%......you should be back to how you were in around 3+ months or so, look at a cycle then.

Totally agree. I got real seriouse again last year when I came back. I made decent gains ( or at least put my size back on) and felt great. It took about 3 months. Get back in shape first, get your diet back in check and then you'll be ready.

I've been reading a lot about 'muscle memory.' Any of you guys have experience with bouncing back to where you were in a very short period of time after a break?

I totally agree with the other guys! You can gain allot clean after a layoff, you will be back on track in no time! If it's because you mis the fast gains, then don't worry they will come anyway bro! Just eat right, use creatine and L-Glutamine as suplements and it will go so fast you will think you are already on! And when you can't gain anymore weight, wait 1 month and then go back on...
