Why Inject So Far Into Muscle???

I was talking to my Doc., he knows I take gear. I told him I use 1.5 in glutes and thighs and stuff and he told me that when injecting into any muscle you dont really need to go far at all. Not even an inch. Just get inside the muscle. This is contradicting what many have told me here saying that you get better absorption and stuff by going deeper. The doc. says once it is in the muscle its all the same. Can someone explain why then do we go so deep with these big size pins if its not really necesarry.

He also says the deeper you go the more risk there is of infection and other really nasty things.

this is interesting as i came across the same statement by my doc. he acted as if i was an idiot. that depth is unecessary he said.

never the less, we all know that you absorb AS from deep injections, and i'm not game enough to try doing shallow ones.

In the glute it depends on your booty thickness, any other muscle you inject in you can be sure you will hit it almost right after the skin i have never seen a flabby bicep or delt but your glute depends on your bodyfat it can have quite some fat on it, 1.5" might be overkill but at least you know for sure your in the muscle!!

I try to keep a steady hand anyway and leave a quarter inch of the exposed out so I can pull it out if it breaks.

this is something i think we should look into more, i have a stupid friend that injects test on his deltoid with an insulin needle and he has gotten good results, he does have very low body fat, im not saying that we should inject with an insulin needle but maybe 11/2 is overkill, i like thick needles myself because its so much easier for the liquid to go through it.

Hmmm... If 1.5 inch is too deep according to some doctors, then why do manufactures make 1.5 inch needles for intramuscular injections? Just a thought.

    good point!

we could look into this, but really, once you peirce the skin, there really isn't any more pain the deeper you go. so who cares. just stick to what you normally use.

i do agree with the glute though. some ppl do hold some fat down there. 1.25 should suffice

I believe we try to get as deep as when can because of the frequency we inject that site on a regular basis. The faster the absorption, the less oil saturation of that muscle hopefully leading to less of a chance of a cyst or abcess. Maybe not, my 2 cents.

All good answers. The only thing is lets say something like a bacteria or germs got on the end of the needle it would be alot better to just go a little into the muscle vs. going really far. Because then you have the bacteria deep inside the muscle instead of it just being at the very top. Once the germs get to deep you can only get them out with minor surgery where as if you just go into the muscle a little an I.V. of antibiotics should do the trick

Unless you are being stupid and careless with your injections, there is NO reason for your needle to be contaminated! As for 1.5" needles, as said above it is for the FAT asses . I shoot with 1" and have for the last 4 years.

I use 1" but I'm very lean. I also don't shoot more than 1.5 cc in the same site.

i currently inject 2.5 cc's EOD using a 1.5 needle is nesscary! im afriad of shooting with a 1inch because what if i dont push it in enough, and the oil is close to my skin could cause a bad infection or lump on the surface.

the only way that I can see it causing a lump is if you barely knicked the skin, basically as soon as you get through the skin(in most areas) you will be in the muscle

With all the studies that show better absorption with larger muscles (comparing glutes/quads/delts/etc.) it would seem that a corollary to that would be to get the oil into the belly of the muscle to allow it to spread to more of the muscle. Essentially, if you do not get into the belly of the muscle, it would be similar to injecting into a smaller muscle. This is what I have always assumed - can't prove it, but seems to follow from the studies.
