Should I even bother???
I wanted to cycle to gain some muscle mass and get off the gear.
It sounds like once your off AS for good, say goodbye to your muscle gains!
SOme of you claim retained muscle, but is this only between cycles? What happens if you quit forever and continue to workout naturally???
This was an article that explained it pretty well:

That is not so! You will keep as much muscle as your body can naturally support.
There was a 10 year gap between my 1st and 2nd cycle and I held on to the 20lbs I gained on that 1st cycle plus added some more naturally.

if you have reached your genetic potential and are on roids you will at some point loose the the extra muscle wether it be a week or a year you will loose it ive been told that hgh is permanent gain but have not researched that at all if you have not reached your genetic potential well you probably should work on your diet and train hard. although the roids will get you there quicker ,you still need a good diet and training program

Yes, I've heard alot about genetic potential. The problem is, how does anyone know what that potential is? I could take 1000mg/day and get huge and say that's my potential, then shrivel back and say that's my potential. The articles I've read by Anthony Roberts and others make basic claims that lead me to believe that overall, you'll lose it.
Trust me, I like to hear people say they've kept it...especially after 10 years!
Benches505id you ever have any layoffs in those ten years of 6months or more?

I've been looking for articles/papers that have studied muscle atrophy after discontinued use of AS. I'm still looking.
I too plan to continue working out after I stop using gear. I have the same goal of at least 9months a year, hopefully never stopping for more than a month at a time.I was hoping that continued good diet and lifting would keep 50% of the overall gain that I had while on gear.
Anyone else have any thoughts or experience?

I cycle only once a year, in the time frame between those cycles, ive held muscle mass pretty well. Thats a 12 month gap between one cycle and another, and in that 12 month gap, i keep cals high, and workouts solid, to try and keep as much as possible.
IMO one can keep a good amount of gains even once your off gear, for a couple months or for good. If you keep your diet spot on and training solid, i dont see why one cant keep a hold of their muscle mass.
Most people who cycle, and gain, then go off and loose most if not all of their gains, arent dedicated enough in the sport of BB to keep hold of their gains. Their diets and training once off gear, go to shit, and of course muscle mass will be lost. And they come to the conclusion that they lost their gains, because they arent of AAS anymore, but infact its their own faults.
Once off gear, the job to hold or gain more naturally gets even tougher. Since your doing it on your own, diet and training needs to be looked at even to a higher degree then when on AAS.

it's great to hear that people have been able to maintain their gains pretty much after a cycle with the proper commitment

At 6' and only 175lbs you are not ready for steroid use yet.
Put in the time at the dinner table and the gym first. Steroids are no replacement for hard work, consistency, smart training and good eating
