Insurance paying for gyno surgery ???

Hey guys I am new to the forums and am wondering the best way to go about having my insurance company pay for my gyno surgery. i have heard that most of the time this is considered "cosmetic" surgery by the insurance companies and they refuse to pay. On the other hand I have heard and read how some people have had the insurance pay for it. I have gone so far as going to my family doctor and telling him that my gyno is painful at times so that he may deem it necessary for surgery but he said it was not bad enough for him to feel that surgery was necessary. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been dealing with this since adolesence. Btw my insurance company is United Healthcare.

from what ive heard from friends, they cannot get their insurance to pay for it. Usually coming out of pocket. Its pretty expensive but not rediculously expensive if you are getting gyno taken away forever.
