    20 yr old 5'5 180-200

Let me start this off by saying i am soo fat. I hate it. I am more depressed than ever about how i look. when i was 16 turning 17 i weighed 150 and started working out. I was getting much stronger so i decided i would lose weight so i went on an intense diet of really only protein and good carbs I dropped 15 lbs in 2 weeks so i was down to 135. After maybe 6 months of working out i could bench 225 at the weight of 135. Anyways i got a serious girlfriend and stopped working out anyways she has broken up with my fat self 3 yrs later and now and i am left with nothing. I tried to bench 160 the other day and couldnt move the bar. Wow have i let myself go and gotten weak. I want to get back where i could have been if i kept at it all these yrs. i feel like the only way 2 do that is with the use of performance enhancing drugs. I know i would need to drop alot of weight before i would start a cycle and get into a good routine of dieting and working out. I just feel so empty knowing that i am so weak now and wont be where i could have been.

Any advice on what i should get my weight 2 before i start or any other comments would be nice. I feel this is something i have too do or i will be a depressed all my life.

You are confused. Performance enhancing drugs are not the answer to your situation. Lifestyle changes are. Steroids are the last in the line of a multitude of measures that can be taken to improve strength and appearnce. Here they are, in order of importance on how they'll make you look and feel. The top two are diet and exercise.

You don't paint a house when you don't even have the foundation poured, am I right?

I would go see a counselor.
Body image and self esteem is obviously a huge issue w/ you.
Go talk to someone about it.

What you need is constant motivation and disipline. I would suggest that you go out and get a trainer and nutritionalist asap. They will guide you with lifestyle changes and help you with any problems you encounter. Getting into shape after a long lay off is much easier said than done so dont try to tackle it all by yourself, get the help!

And get the idea of taking drugs out of you're head, they are not magic!

I say it alot to my buddies who want the quick fix with roids, you need to be in peak shape naturally before you should consider roids.

If I where you I would first start by doing as much running/swimming/ whatever you can stand as far as cardio at least 2-3 times per week for the first month and gradually increase, also while lifting but don't go nuts for the first month take it easy and get back into things do sets of 12-15 reps. 1 month of that if you are really out of shape you will see good results, then supplement your routine with gradual increases in everything, but remember run run run and alot of reps for now your strength will come back in time not even that long prob like 6-8 mnths.

Good luck keep ya head up

Thanks for all the advice ive been going to the gym for about 4-5 hrs a day. I have gone from 190 to 150. I have not seen much gain in strength but i have lost alot of weigh just by eating more often throughout the day. Im going to get a trainer to help gain strength. Is the weight drop unhealthy. Ive only been dieting and exercising for about 15 days.

40 lbs in 15 days is an insane amount! I'm going to go ahead and assume that 10 lbs of that was water. That means you're still losing 2lbs/day! That's a 7000 calorie per day deficet!

Going to the gym for 4 or 5 hours is way too much. No more than two hours/day or results are counterproductive. 1 hr cardio and 1 hr lifting split in the am and pm are ideal for you right now.

Glad to hear about your success so far...keep it up, and getting a trainer would be a good idea in your case, as i'm sure you are overtraining. Seeing as you hadn't lifted for awhile, it'd be like starting all over so your metabolism is going crazy, and losing a ton of weight. Keep it up and good luck.
