    Anasthesia and Steroids?

Have any of you had any experiences of having surgery while on cycle? I am going to be on a moniterd anisthetic in early April for a tonsilectomy and out of the gym for a few days after. Mixing anathesia and test and anavar to be exact concerns me, should it? I would wait until after to cycle, but Ive got a strained oblique that is killing my whole left side of my body when I breathe and need to get on to help speed up this recovery from the injury. Thanks in advanvce.

I have gone under while on a pretty beefy cycle and had no problems. The main problem is that everyone reacts different to medications. If you are that worried about it, I would be honest with the anastasiologist (sp?). Of course at the same time, if he sees a problem with it and decided not to put you under, at least your health is preserved. Up tp you man. Good luck though!

I'm a nurse and I went under before Christmas for surgery on my finger. I couldn't tell the doc. Not many drugs interact with AAS. Infact I can't think of one except for insulin, HCG or Ai's. All went routine. I wouldn't worry about it. Might I add that I checked my own charts regularly. No abnormalities at all. There is a slight possibility that your obs will show that your B.P and H.R is up if your on test but if they think it's a concern they will just give you some pre op sedation. Infact you should get it anyway. They'll just think your anxious about the surgery but if it's too high, they will treat it with antihypertensives. It won't stop them operating but they will tell you to follow it up with your family doctor. Seriously though, this is all just maybes and I doubt any of this will even happen.

Only thing that might worry me would be increased bleeding during surgery.

Is this from an increased BP?? If this were the case would they not determine that pre-op and not carry on?

You should be just fine. I did just have 3 hernias operated on but I had been off for over 3 weeks prior to surgery. When they did my physical at the hospital they didnt even do a blood test. It was done about 45 min prior to my surgery, and was no big deal. Just make sure your BP is under control. I do think that some AAS can cause a decrease in blood clotting time, probably because of the increase in number of the erythorocytes or maybe plasma volume. I know that I bleed much easier when I am on.
