Are steroids right for me?
Hello, obviously I'm a new guy with a few questions. First, a few things about me. I'm a 23 year old 5'10" male and weigh a whopping 155 lbs. Ive been going to the gym routinely for the past 8 months and have a proper diet the entire time. The first few months I was noticing a steady increase in my performance at the gym, but for the past few months I have seen absolutely no return on my workouts. I havent been able to increase weight (both my weight and bar weights at the gym), and have had no visible difference. As you know, going to the gym for a few months is getting hard to do when I'm not getting any return, and I'm finally fed up with it. So with that, its leading me to try alternatives for muscle/weight gain. So with all that being said, are steroids the right thing to try? Or is there something else I should be trying first. Any insight would be helpful, and please dont laugh too hard at the new puny guy.
Thanks guys.

Bro,look at your nutrition and your training first....also what are your goals???..AAS are not just something you take...at 155 you dont even have a good enuff base. You want to try and gain all the weight in muscle natty first then you may consider them.

"Can you post this PROPER DIET???"
- While it's not set in stone. I usually have 4 eggs at breakfast, banana, some bread, and a glass of milk. For lunch I usually have a nice turkey or chicken sandwich with a slice of cheese and a glass of milk. Dinner varies sometimes, but generally a nice piece of meat, some rice, a salad and a little something else. This is just the major meals, I'll have a snack or 2 throughout the day with food along those lines, and a protein shake before/after workouts.
"also what are your goals???."
-My goals right now are mainly appearance goals. I'm tired of looking like the little guy, which made me start lifting in the first place. While it has increased very slightly, in almost a year I was expecting better results.
"at 155 you dont even have a good enuff base"
-Any recommendations on how I can increase this base? Working out and eating properly sure arent doing the trick.

-I posted the diet above.
"I was the same height and same weight as you. You can gain 10 pounds a year natty. Try creatine and eat more. Read up on bulking in the diet forum. Good luck"
-I guess I'll give creatine a shot. And thanks for the link.

Say you get 12 OZ of meat for supper 1 cup of rice and a salad, your looking at 300-400 cals for meat, probably 50g of protein 300 cals for rice with 50+Carbs and 100-200 for salad depending on toppings you looking at 900 Cals
Thats only 2000 Calories and thats being generous! plus your snacks and if there anything like your meals its not enough. You need to read the bulking sticky's, plus what do you do for a job, becuase unless your laying on a couch all day your burning more than your taking in, making it impossible to grow! EAT EAT EAT, also don't think of meals like breakfast lunch supper and snacks. Meal 1, Meal 2 ect + PWO PPWO You definately need more carbs though, maybe get some potatoes and oatmeal, Rice for one meal and 4 pieces of bread aren't going to cut it!
Im not trying to flame you, but your diet isn't nearly as good as you think and if you don't change it even with AAS you still wont grow, All the pills in the world can't produce muscle if the fuel for them isn't there.Last edited by dhriscerr; 03-14-2007 at 01:19 PM.

However I agree, 155 is too small to start any aas, I didn't start using till I was 183 and my starting weight was 133.

Like everyone says, you need to eat more. My first meal is almost 1200calories. When you feel like you are gonna puke half of the day, then that is when you know you are eating enough.

You should be able to answer that question yourself. Until you can, go eat ,sleep and train.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I guess the thing I need to do now is just eat more, and maybe some creatine. And as for the guy saying its 2000 calories... maybe what I listed is 2000, but like I said what I listed isnt set in stone, and since I DO KEEP TRACK OF MY DIET, I know for a fact I average 2500-3000 calories a day. However, I'm just assuming that isnt enough and will try to add on even to that, mainly with some carbs.
Snd yes, I am a 150% ectomorph, even told so by a sports medicine doctor.

In my opinion if you have to ask the question "if roids are right for me"
you need to do more time in the gym do more research and rethink this whole thing over give it some time dude.

It seems as if you are saying that you are a hard gainer as well. If so, my advise to you and to the original poster is to go see a dietitian.
FlipLife, I'm telling you bro, you are not eating the right things in the right amounts at the right times. If you don't want to take the advise, that's fine. It's up to you now.

Try KFC i heard their chicken strips are packed to the brim with protein
Seriously though. If I ate "properly" I would be a monster, its really mine and most so called hardgainers biggest nemesis. The only time ever grow is when i force food in me, for some reason hardgainers are just not naturally apt to eat a lot, just have to force yourself till you feel like you will puke, eventually your stomach gets used to the amounts and you get hungry more often. Try whey Protein shakes 3 a day plus what you are already eating. Also you might want to check out the diet and nutrition forum as there are scientific formulas for caloric and protein intake based on weight to basically guarantee growth if you follow them
good luck no steroids yet for you though.
