any advantage to starting the finasteride BEFORE cycle?

Ive heard it said that starting the finasteride a few weeks prior to cycle helps prevent the DHT conversion better than starting at same time as cycle?

    any thoughts on this ?

It is true because both Finasteride and Dutasteride actually take up to 6 months before they are fully blocking DHT. You are going to block DHT once you began taking it but maximum effects take place at 6 month marker foward. So yes, starting early would probably be benificial if you are concerned or worried about hairloss. Also, you do know that Propecia/Avodart only work for Testosterone. So if you are messing with Tren, Winny, Masteron its basically up in the air.

Yah Finasteride and Dutasteride do stay in the system for up to 6months, so if your taking it everyday, it does start to compound..

    but..
1 week into DUTA.. it will block 60% of the DHT.
2 weeks of DUTA at .5mg a day and DUTA blocks 90% of the DHT.. a year later it blocks 94% so just a bit more..
thats according to a study I read.

so 2-3 weeks ahead of time woudl be a good idea.

is the same true (approx) with fina or are you suggesting I get the DUTA?
and my cycle will TEST/EQ no harsh stuff like winny, tren, halo etc..
    thanks

personally id stay away from the winny and tren, and go with test, deca or eq.i heard good results about dutas from my friends who run it.i would imagine that it works in a similar way to fina,so you should be good to go,and yes definitley start it b4 your cycle to allow it some time to work.and also you might notice some hairloss at first.this is because it sheds some of the old hair and starts a new hair growth cycle.

    good luck.

    Finasteride, and Dutasteride work similarly..

the difference between the two is that, Finesteride only block AR-5 Enzyme in the CNS area of the body, it does not block it around the scalp.
Finasteride still works good, because what this does, it drops the total amount of DHT circulating in the bloodstream.
so in 2-3 weeks of using with Finesteride, a study showed it lowered DHT by about 70%.

Dutasteride, blocks the AR-5 enzyme, in the CNS area of the body, but also at the scalp receptors,,,,
and with that it appears to lower DHT by about 90% in that same study after 2 weeks... and after a year down by 94%

    here is the study http://www.forhair.com/dutasterideConsentForm.htm
without the 5-AR enzyme, testosterone does not convert to DHT, so it means more of it will convert to Estrogen, and some of it will stay in Testosterone form.
Testosterone does also bind to the receptors at the hair follicle,
and also can cause an auto-immune response, in which your body goes on to destroy the hair follicles.
Testosterone is just not as harsh as DHT, but elevated amounts can still cause hairloss no doubt.

Use Nizoral Shampoo Its an anti-androgen it seems to help with inflammation caused by the auto-immune response. The less inflammation the better the chance your hair has of surviving.

Some people are watering down their Dutasteride a bit, and applying it directly to their scalp when they apply rogaine,,,

I don't know about you guys but I started using Dutasteride and I think I see a differance. My MPB is on my temples (unfortunatley) and I see lots of progress in the "thickness" of my hair. BUT I've used Finasteride for 3 or 4 months and then jumped on Dutasteride for 3 months. IMO MPB on the temples - - good luck at getting that back but if you have it on your crone, I can see hope. Seriously, my hair had thinned out but maybe its just mental but it seems like its slowly helping. PS - I did shed a lot on Dutasteride. I also use Nizoral and Rogaine - even off cycle.

    Dutasteride - .5mg ED
    Nizoral - EOD
    Rogaine - 1-2 X a day
