    EPO for an asmatic?

My bestfriend has had asthma for basically forever and I was suggesting that he could do a cycle with low dose of EQ to increase RBC and make it much easier to catch his breath and etc. But he does not plan on using roids I think ever. Do you think he could do EPO 500IU/ED for 2 weeks? Also would any asmtha meds affect him in a bad way in response to EPO or higher RBC?

Asthma is constriction of the airways..both large and small airways. The trouble is not getting the air in..it's getting the air out. A classic chest x-ray from an asthmatic will show profound hyperinflation of the lungs.
I can't see how being polycythemic, would help

the goal of short term bronchodilators is to relax smooth muscle tissue and allow for effortless exchange of air...in and out

    second question..
short term bronchodilators might increase your blood pressure along with steroids. (it's the only side effect, I could think of, that would interact)

Ebjack is correct. Increasing RBC will not help him exhale during an attack. His best bet is albuterol and atrovent using nebulizers. He should also carry an inhaler when he is out. Clenbuterol will also help and is normally used as a bronchodialator.
Besides, EPO is very expensive and will not be picked up by insurance like asthma meds.

I was thinking that more RBC would make his blood more oxygenated therefor not needing to breath as much to catch his breath, this has nothing to do with having an asmtha attack its just so he can catch his breath faster when working out. And I have a source with EPO and it is pretty cheap for 2 weeks worth.

Well..it would help with endurance...but you do have to keep a close eye on the hematacrit while your on EPO. If i remember right..there were a couple of olympic bicyclers that had strokes while on EPO without monitoring their crit.

    found an article on EPO
