Thread: Why Do You Use Steroids?

    Why Do You Use Steroids?

Why do you use steroids? Honest answers.

I think everyone should at some point self scrutinize themselves on whatever they are involved in when risks are involved. What exactly are the reasons you use steroids? Your objectives?

Competition, sports, ego, vanity ... lay it out there.

Given the known immediate side effects of use: frequent injections, infections, cramps, illness, fevers, chills, impotence, tendon/ligament impairment, mood swings, depression, acne, hair loss, not to mention LE risks and long term potential health risks and damage to organs, what is the real attraction and motivation?

Preparing for serious competition is one thing, what is your lure?

Its a culmination of many things. I love working out and its the only time of the day I can get out of my head, leave my thoughts behind and get some peace of mind. However, along the way, you also want to see some results for the effort you put in. And when your body has taken you as far as you can go with diet and exercise, then gear is the next step.

In my mind, asking someone why they take gear is the same thing as asking someone why they weight train in the first place, i mean this in the sense that anybody serious about weight training and bodybuilding will all come to a crossroads where they will consider the use of gear. Granted, there are a rare few who opt to go natural all the way but alot of us don't have the genetics/patience/fortitude to carry it through.

Oh, and did i mention Vanity gotta love it when you walk into the room and ppl cant take their eyes off you OR chicks who pass you on the street turn around to have one more look at you...that's just priceless

Because the truth is that I know you can never get HUGE or let alone freakishly huge without steroids, no matter how long or hard you train naturally. If you want to be like that at some point in your bodybuilding journey, you'll have to take steroids properly. And that's why I do it.

Do they make things easier? Not really. You still gotta train hard and put your dues into your nutrition and take time eating.

Do they make things faster? Yes. I think that's the difference between natty training and steroid-induced training.

My goals too high to reach genetically, it became my only way to get as big and strong as I want to be. If you want to get to almost pro size and definition its the only way. And also I just love using them in cutting so much, they've got to be the absolute best cutting AID ever! You can go all hardcore real low cal diet with tons of cardio and don't have to worry about losing any of your muscle.

My wife asks me that same question. She was happy with my body when I was 190 and lean so she doesn't understand why I do them. But after a few steroid cycles over the years I am 225 and still lean. Some of that can be contributed to nearing the big 30. I like being a little bigger than most guys and being one of the stronger guys in the gym. Its an ego thing, it helps me feel better about myself. I have no aspirations to compete or do I have the dedication it takes. I never plan on running extreme cycles for long periods of time but if possible I would like to do two cycles a year for as long as my health holds up. Who knows? I may be taking years off my life but I guarantee my lifestyle of smoking, drinking, and drugs from my early 20's was much more harmful. So if I had to choose one of the evils I would choose the roids. I think my affinity for drugs in my past has something to do with why I like the way steroids and some supplements make me feel. I'd rather be called a juicer than a crackhead anyday. Thats all I have on that one. Out

#1 reason is that I have always been "the small guy." When I graduated high school I was 130 pounds (5'8"). I was able to put on about 40 pounds natty, but after that it was a dead stand still. Like d_nelly78 said, my wife was very happy with my body at 170, but I wasn't. After 20 years of always being looked at as "that little guy," I wanted to be looked at as "the big guy," or "that jacked up dude." I guess it was ego that got me started.
#2 My job requires that I am stronger than the average person. The appearance that I present also goes along way. Being 5'8" 200+ and lean, makes people see you, where as being 5'8" 170 allows people to see past you.
I've never taken a recreational drug in my life. I've always been very conscious of my health and well being and even now I sometimes question whether this is worth it. I've actually considered making this current cycle, my last.

I agree that everyone reaches a point when they must choose whether to use aas or not to reach their goal. Depending on how serious you are with your training and the certain goals you have aas is the only way to get there.

I was always little, In the 2 yrs I've been training, I've gained over 40lbs of muscle, most of that being in the 6 months I've been juicing. To me, natural bodybuilding does nothing for me cept keep me average. I feel like its my personal conviction, my calling to pack as much muscle on me as inhumanly possible. These dietary supplements I inject, and yes I call them dietary supplements because u have to eat right for them to work at all. It was a way for me to prove to myself that I could do it, and could make my goals. he only bad thing is that now, ppl can almost look at me and tell I do them and yeah I get asked the question alot, about whether I'm juicing, but I don't owe them an explanation and they dont' want one either. These supplements are part of my sport they are essential for stimulating the growth and strength that makes pros and champions. Natural doesn't cut it for me any more point blank. Steroids give me the results I want, and allow me to push thru my plateaus so I can go that much further to ground I wasn't ever supposed to be on, and yea I do love the attention I receive and I love stretching out my shirts and jeans but I will not ever stop doing them.

I chose to because I was always the fat kid who got made fun of and after years of hard work and dedication to weight loss and eventual weight training naturally I decided to enter the dark side. I do regret starting when I did (although I was 21 at the time) because I did not have the proper knowledge of training intensity, nutritional intake and the necessity of cardio. Now, its a different story and after being off for over 2 years I am ready to start over and see what really happens now that I have a real clean diet and I know how to cut, and bulk properly.

Vanity!!! and to jump ahead a little in my sport. Some might even say not jump ahead, but stay on par with other guys (who arguably juice).
as for the health risks- well most guys who juice i imagine dont smoke, drink or do drugs as much as other people. I for damn sure eat healther, and am in better cardio shape than most. So it evens out in my opinion.

I just got back on gear.I'm coming off a 7 year lay-off from training and have been back a year.I am a powerlifter and have done 3 meets since the start of the year, the last one qualified me for the WA**L World's-it was tested and I waited till the day after to start my cycle.I want to be the best powerlifter I can be and that is the main reason I use gear, but I'd be lying if I said it was the only reason.I like the feeling when I'm on and walking around at well over 300 pounds is pretty cool,so there is some vanity involved.

Waiting for the gear for 1st cycle. going to the darkside because of wanting to keep up with the young guys on the court. always trained hard but want to see if I can get that extra edge. Want mind the noticing either.

Thought there'd be more narcissism, or self obsession mentioned here. But it seems to be more about power and control -- both over non-lifters and women.

Being bigger, badder and stronger than everyone else and more sexually appealing to women?

There are times I strut and times I plant my feet and make others move around me. I've seen most athletes, lifters do the same thing.

Is lifting and using steroids and not competing, or involved in athletics just an image thing? That we just want to 'appear' a certain way? We certainly can't do anything with the end results of cycling if we're not involved in other activities that put the end result to use?

Bottom line, I like being bigger and stronger than most and like the effect it has on women, I like to think that I have power and control.

At first, I trained, for a long time, no drinking, no drugs. Trained with the weights for 10 years. I saw guys get huge in 6 months, not me. I was mislead to think I could do it "naturally" it would just take a long time. After my 6th year of training (I also wrestled in College at this point) I knew that was just bs. I waited until after school, after securing a career, and I kept competing in sports.
I was still a 'little' dude, ripped, in shape, strong, but skinny. I saw a buddy of mine get hurt bad at work (you can prob tell what I do now) by some big boy- and that was it. for safety sake it paid off to be a big cat.
Yeah, I like how I look with 20 extra pounds of muscle, but since I still compete in a sport with weight classes I don't do big dog dosages (When I finally stop competing I might get "BIG" or I might train for and run a marathon- not sure yet)
Gear is not evil, people who try to turn it into the same thing as methamphetamine or crack, are.
I never heard of a person hooking, sticking people up, selling their shit, etc. to buy juice.....
