Gear has nothing to do with it. It's the diet. Do a typical bulking cycle. Don't worry if you lose definition from water weight, it will go away. Do your workout as normal. Then make it a clean bulk with your diet. You give yourself just enough extra calories to bulk. You also keep the carbs a bit on the low side. Not anywhere near as low as cutting, but lower than your usual bulking diet. Taper the carbs, meaning eat them in your earlier meals. That's how it's done. It's really just the difference between bulking and just being a pig. Just keep in mind you're putting on muscle, it's not an excuse to have junk food and scarf down everything in site. You have to be kind of anal retentive with the diet. It is definitely a fine line you have to walk.
