Plasma levels - correct me if i'm wrong
I've heard that the best place to inject is the glutes as this is the place with the highest blood plasma levels.
Does this mean that what ever you inject will be better absorbed into the blood? If not, what does this mean exactly???
If so, can someone list the next 2 or 3 places on the body with the next highest blood plasma levels.
Thanks

this sounds interesting.....does any have an answer?

Medical and nursing schools are now teaching the preferred place to inject would be lateral thigh. It has more to do with safety than absorbtions, the glutes are no longer the primary site because of the chance of hitting the sciatic nerve.

You get a shooting pain down the leg and can get a conditions called drop foot. This causes a person to not be able to dors***ex the foot. Meaning they cant pick up their toes when they walk and they have a noticeable limp.

I will also add that absorbtion is relative to the amount of capillary beds in a given area. Areas with high capillary density will increase the rate of absorbtion because capillaries are only one cell thick and are direct access to the blood stream. The larger the muscle expose to the injectable the greater the absorbtion based on the muscle exposed.
If that makes sense.

Jay,
Firstly your thinking is faulty.
There are no plasma concentrations. It is merely the substance in which the other three cellular elements (rbc’s, wbc’s and platelets) circulate.
So essentially plasma is the bloodstream, making Roid’s statement quite true.
The only EXCEPTION, or time we see significant concentrations is when wbc’s are recruited for battle.

VERY TRUE!
But I think you meant ‘faster’ not ‘greater’ absorption, as eventually all absorption will be complete, but as you said prior more caps incr. the rate.
