Finasteride and pregnancy
To make a long story short.
I am prone to MPB and have been on finasteride for almost 10years now.
My gf just told me that i knocked her and I am worried about the effects that finasteride might have on the fetus.
I was planning to stop finasteride for a few months and run some proviron before conceiving but this was totally not planned.
As soon as I knew about it I started researching and so far, the info I gathered points to finasteride affecting sperm quality but not gene transcription so birth deffects from the man using it are extremely unlikely to happen. As far as I know it is necessary for the woman to be directly exposed to high dosages between weeks 6 and 15 to exist the possibilty of deffects in the fetus reproductio system.
If anyone has other pieces of info worth sharing it woud be much appreciated.
I was also trying 1 ampoule of PGCL more or less by that time and am worried about that also as there is little to no info on its effects on humans. This is a long shot but if anyone has read anything on it please post the link.
Thank you so much everyone.

All you need.
If you really have to, then Barbasol cream, if you're a *****.
You do however get some street cred back for knocking up the GF, congrats.Last edited by meathead320; 01-19-2008 at 02:47 PM.

There is no risk to the fetus by you being on finasteride. The risk is only if your chick takes it while preggers or handles the tabs. I could elaborate, but I'm drunk right now.

what experiences have you had from using finasteride for 10 years? any side effects like decreased sex drive/libido?? and how well has it maintained your hair. has it been effective in keeping the hair you have? and have you experienced any regrowth.

It has stopped my hair shedding. Since I have frontal hairloss I have not seen any regrowth but I am happy the shedding stopped.
As for for sides, I notice my libido is not as it used to be, but anyway I am 31 and able to perform well (at least that's what she says).

how do you notice when you hair is shedding then?? hairs on the pillow and in the bath?? that kind of thing. if i look at my hair now compared to when i was 16 my hairline has probably slightly receeded in the corners of my forehead but i have never noticed any hairs falling out or anything. and my pillow is always clear. i use finasteride as a precaution, but only whilst on cycle and pct. i dont see the need for it all year round unless my hair was falling out all over my pillow or whatever.

I saw it shedding. Everytime I ran hand through my head 3 or 4 hairs came with it.

Hugo, congrats bro.
Don't know if this is really cause for concern or not, but I recently went to donate blood. I was turned away because I have been using finastride for the last couple years. I was told that they could not use my blood as if it a pregnant or soon to be pregnant lady was the receiver of my blood, it could cause birth defects. They didn't elaborate on it much, just told me I would have to be off for 30 days before I could donate.

Thanks,
That happened to me also. I know finasteride can cause deffects if a pregnant woman contacts with it. My doubt is about its effects on the sperm. I know it reduces sperm quality and mobility reducing chances of fertilization but have not seen anything proving that it would affect the fetus.
