    Cytomel - T-3 Question

    Ok guys,

I have a challenge for you. My thyroid was completely shut down due to a diagnosis of Graves disease, last March.

I take, as prescribed by my endocrinologist, 175mcg of Synthroid (t-4) and 10mcg of Cytomel (t-3)per day.

I want to take advantage of the fat burning/loss properties of an increased daily dose of T-3. What would be the dosing protocol for someone like me:

    Age 42
    5'11"
    180lbs
    14%bf

Finally I have been released to workout again after three eye surgeries since August, which were also related to the Graves Disease. Considering what I have gone through and have been unable to lift, I kept up with light cardio on the treadmill at home and a mostly clean diet.

    Thanks!

If I were you I would just start upping the cardio, change up your diet, and start lifting again. That right there will help you drop a few lbs of BF%. Not even sure about messing with more T3 at this point.

Yes, if you google Graves Disease, you will see that it is an overactive thyroid that causes rapid heart-rate, hand trembling, increased metabolism.

That explained many issues I was experiencing:

    1. Unable to further my muscle growth
    2. The treadmill really was correct showing a HR of 170 post lifting
    3. Couldn't sleep more than 3 hours a night
    4. Lost 50% of vision in the left eye and had to have emergency bi-lateral orbital decompression surgery to prevent blindness, all better now btw.
    4. Eyelid extension surgery to correct the overactive muscle stimulation in each eyelid. Heck, my eyes would open while I was asleep!

So, my treatment choices were a radioactive iodine treatment to shut down and destroy the thyroid or surgical resection of the gland itself. I chose the radioactive iodine.

My TSH was 0, then got to 95 and is now down to 0.4

With your condition you’ll be hard pressed to find someone who recommends manipulating thyroid hormone levels. You should take this up with your doc.

    Best to you.
