Found black Hair in test vial, ewwwww..

While I was getting my shot ready today and as I was drawing it out I noticed something black in the bottle, after closely examining the bottle I see that it is a little black hair...

I have already done 6cc's of the bottle. It could be mine. I have been doing my shots in the bathroom lately and maybe from the cotton swabs sitting on counter picked up some hair and from cleaning the vial its possible its mine,, I hOPE..

Should I be worried... Last year when I used this UG I got a cist ( dont know for sure until they cut me open), but I thought it was from poor preperation before injections, but now I am starting to wonder....

that's kinda gross. I don't see how it would get into a vial post production.

Well it is what it is,, to late now.. I will be looking the bottles over more closley before starting new ones.

I also usually draw out with the same needle a few times in a row, it is very likley its my hair...>
What problems could any hair being in the bottle cause, THE ba>bb should take care of any problems, correct??

what kind of hair was it? was it like an eyelash, or beard hair. it sounds like you have black hair, yes? so there's a good chance it's yours. not that it stops it from contaminating the vial. you can always filter the rest can't you

simply the hair could contaminate it. yeah that's what i was thinking, filter it and add more ba. better ask some one who knows more than me though. i've done 2nd. year microbiology but.....

you can buy a whatman's filter. first suck up your gear, fit the filter to the end of the syringe, then fit the pin to the filter and squirt it into a new sterile vial. ask one of the vets though.

My other bottles are fine, i am sure the ba and bb will kill any germs... like I said, already did 6 cc,s I will just make sure I dont suck up the hair for the next 2 shots..

Hair getting into a vial...unlikely as you have a rubber stopper on top and if your needle is not touching anything (even if it was the stopper should push it off) its sealed. Run it through a filter as stated and possibly add some more BA if you want. Watch yourself tho and if any sign of infection id just discard.

defintaly filter it, even if you add ba you risk particulate problems. the problems of pariculars in gear are but not limited to:
chemical reactions, particulars are chemical incompatable with the arterial system and can cause poisining
Pulminary anurism (sp?) can happen if the particular is big enough to become loged in the arterial system
your body can reject the material and cause your immune system to conk out from overuse

guys, its not neccesarily bad to have to filter gear after its bought, that said, it is bad to have to filter out HAIR when buying gear!! fine particulars are so common

After reading this it seems that it wouldn't be a bad idea to always filter out your gear before you use it. There's no need to chance it.

I only inject once with each needle. However I use a seperate syringe for drawing the shit out and swap the needle end with a fresh one for injecting.

I have been sick the last week or so. I going to toss the few cc's that are left and start a new bottle. It was as UG that is not around anymore..USP.

you saying you use one needle time and time again for drawing up??

as in use it one day, leave it on the side, then use it again?

wow~! I would have to say its close to impossible for that hair to be yours man - do yourself a favor and get rid of the rest of the stuff, you have more, is it really worth the possibility of an abcess , again!? Glad to hear your other bottles are good to go!
maybe its a good thing that this lab is no longer operating
