    Unhappy Necrotizing Fasciitis or Cellulitis?

Anyone know what this is? I went to the doctor today and I was givin one of 2 options. Its either nectizing fasciitis (NF) or cellulitis. My wife found some medical websites that state that steroid use is a poss cause for NF. Im hoping for cellulitis. And no this wasnt an injection site. It came out of nowhere. I go back to the doctor tommorow so he can see how fast its spreading. I got an antibiotic injection and oral anticiotics taday. If it dosent go down by tomorow, I will be admitted to the hospital for more aggressive antibiotic therapy. It doubled in size in24hrs. What scares me is that the center is black and growing. If anyone of you have had this before, let me know your thoughts. The middle is numb but the red surrounding are is extremely painful.

It does look like a brown recluse bite. Hopefully the dr. would've considered that.
....Brown recluse are fairly common where I live.

The brown center really does look like a recluse bite. At least they've started you on antibiotics which is pretty standard for that type of bite.
Just so you'll know, recluse venom is necrotic and if it is a recluse bite, that brown/black core will eventually fall out and likely leave a small crater/scar for quite some time.

damn! never seen shit like that except for on youtube. Thank god for our cold Canadian winters. We don't have anything up here that would leave a bite like that.

Looks similar to a recluse bite in its very early stages, let it sit and it'll get bad, real bad.

When I got bitten, the swelling and infection made the bite area break down so that you couldn't really distinguish the exact site.

Yeah, I'm wondering what he found out. I got to thinking yesterday and was hoping he didn't go to Google images, punch in brown recluse bite, and freak when he saw the pictures.
The bites are bad, but not nearly as bad as they show there.

Thats what my dads spider bit looked like it left a quarter size hole in his leg. I dont think its from steroids , NF or Cellulitis is usually associated with infection at the area of the injection.

I had a buddy get bit in the back of the neck by a recluse while in the military, luckly one of the guys in my basic training company was an EMT and kept treating it throughout the time we were there cause the medics on base were worthless.
It was nasty though, we could stick a cotton swap into the back of his head and only have the cotton ball showing, they should have sent him to the hospital but that's the military for ya.

    Update:

3 days in hospital and 2 surgeries later
Origionally went into ER after first post. Doc took a look at it and gave me a local anasthetic and opened wound up with scapel. She drained what she could of pus, put some packing in the wound and was going to send me home with anticiotics. She drew a circle 1cm bigger than the wound and told me if it got bigger than the circle, I had to come back immediately. During the process of discharge the ER nurse looked at it one more time and realized the wound had already grown larger than the circle. I sat in the ER for 9hrs while specialists from all over the hospital came to look at it. I was started on the strongest antibiotics they have (Vancomyacin) 1gr every 12hrs. The antibiotics seemed to slow it but it was still growing. The concencus was it was probable MRSA antibiotic resistant staph infection. Surgery finally came by and took over. I was told the all the dead tissue needed to be cut out and rest of the pus/fluid that was deep in my leg needed to be drained. Last nite I was in surgery for an hour (intubated). They opened up the hole bigger and drained fluid out. That left a big pocket under my skin that needed to be packed with gauze. After surgery I was hit with more antibiotics. This morning surgery re-evaluated the site to see no signs of infection left. The culture tests have yet to come back but they now believe it was some form of a flesh eating bacteria. I was released this afternoon and have to follow up every 3 days. My wife has to change the dressing and packing twice a day. So thats all the info I have. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, much appreciated! Also I have to thanks the aggressive surgens that took me right in to cut the infection out.

One more thing. I missed my test c 400 injection Wed nite. Should I take 200 today and get back on track with 400 Sun morn? Cant wait to get back in the gym and at least work out upperbody.

good thing you did what you did, when you did it. that is what i figured they would do as far as far as lancing it and doing a culture. vanco is also pretty standard in this situation. you should be in the clear now, sounds like a pretty good medical team. glad to hear you're alright. you may want to rethink continuing your cycle though. i will recommend that you do some research on anabolic steroids effect on your immune system relating to fighting this infection. i for one would do my pct and begin or resume my cycle later. but you make that decision yourself.....

i would say your health is more important than a cycle right now. and it is a varying opinion related to this subject. google this,"steroids and immune system" and just read..... you will find some of it interesting, but then again some of it is garbage too. so you really need to make your own educated decision.

Glad they caught it! I"m surprised they aren't combining Nafcillin with the Vanco.
Are they allowing you to dampen the packing with saline before you remove it?
Definitely lay the cycle aside for right now. You want it to be the best it can and it won't if you're not 100%.
Please update when the cultures come back.....

Man you are one lucky dude, great to hear you are OK. I say fvck the cycle, go straight to PCT and concentrate on healing up. You wont be able to do legs properly for ages so the cycle is a waste IMO.

Ok you guys are right. Im starting PCT in a week I guess. I have clomid and nolva. Do the dosages change if I only do 6wks instead of 12? After seeing the pictures above, convinced me to stop. (I think they made me a vagina) Thats what I(my wife) has to clean twice a day. Maybe its the lack of test in my system but I want to really thank you guys for all the info. Ill keep updating this as I get more info. I probably wont get the lab results until monday unless something is really wrong. If anyone has any questions, Ill awnser them the best I can.

damn MRSA. i feel bad ur cycle was interupted by this. thats life for ya. damn. As far as i know test an nandrolone improve imunity granted u dont lower estrogen or progesterone to much with AIs. I got two skin infections on letro at the same time. One was herpes zoster, the other im not sure.
    Nolvadex improves immune system.

Dont forget the vitamin C brother. Remember its mrsa, not crsa....
