    Elbows to fingers going numb

From the tip of my fingers to my elbows keep going numb. Like falling asleep. Does anyone know what could be causing it?

This is most likely some form of compression neuropathy - one or more of your sensory nerves is being "compressed" by another structure - could be from overgrowth of tendons, ligaments or muscles.

    Some common compression neuropathies:
Carpal tunnel - median nerve entrapment, usually at the level of wrist by the transverse carpal ligament. Symptoms - usually just the thumb, index, middle and radial side half of ring finger have numbness, tingling, esp. at night or when driving, hands in extreme flexion or extension.

Ulnar nerve entrapment - usually at the elbow, the cubital tunnel (your funnybone), numbness, tingling down to your ring and little finger.

To have the whole forearm numb/tingling suggests entrapment at the elbow level or higher (more proximal).

    Try stretching, NSAIDS, ice.

Diagnostic test - ask doc for an EMG which measures nerve conduction, this will identify specific nerves involved.

Thanks! I appreciate all the help. I considered it an anabolic question because it didnt start happening until AFTER I started my cycle. Sorry about that. Thanks again.

AAS can cause water retention and/or hypertropy of tendons and ligaments so that could cause the compression neuropathy. Basically the structures are growing too fast without time for the whole compartment to expand and accomodate the increased pressure.

You could use it to your advantage and give yourself a "stranger."

As strange as it sounds, I get it in my shoulders when i wake up in the middle of the night. My lower arms are fine and my traps/chest/back are fine, but my shoulders are completely dead, cant lift the arm high enough to hit the light in the bathroom. I just aim and hope for the best when i take the mid night pee. Oh, and my numbness happens completely aside from a cycle as well as on.

There can be compression of the nerves that run in the neck due to tight scalene muscles.

This has been happening to me for a few years since I had shoulder problems from working out.

I can't sleep with my arms above my head anymore or else I'll wake up with completely numb arm(s).

I've never done a cycle either... I think it has more to do with the nerves and/or blood flow, not aas.

My forearms/fingers may go a little numb later after an intense arm workout. Holding my arms outstretched makes it go away. It always goes away on its own by the next day. This has always been the case. I think it's nerves/blood vessels being pressed by engorged skeletal muscle.

I can tell you first hand. I have the same thing going on with me. My dr. says that it's from a pinched nerve that is in your elbow that run up to your your hand. They can fix it i fyou go under the knife. It will get worse for a little while. You fingers will go numb real bad. So much so your almost willing to cut the thing off yourself to get it to stop. Well at least if it was a bad as mine is. The good thing is that after about three weeks or so of it being that numb, it will stop being so bad. Something you can live with even though some of the numbness is still there.

This is in your forearm and little fingers? If so what I added is true.

If it is in your pinkie and ring finger then its the ulnar nerve and will go numb when your arm is bent. mine does it when i sleep. As stupid as it sounds you can wear an elbow pad turned around backwards, so that you cant flex at the elbow, and that will get rid of it happening at night.

Haha nice find! I never would have caught that!

It is a good question though, I was curious myself b/c every time I cycle my hands and fingers "fall asleep" at least a couple times a day every single day. Its weird though only happens when I juice, last time was four years ago, didnt think it would happen again but brought back some memories.

12 months old or not, it helped me understand why several times a day, and EVERY night my forearm and littel and middle ring go numb. It is pretty severe. Just not sure how to fix it?
