A steroid for Asthma?

I was told that there is a steroid for Asthma called Pednozone (or something like that can't remember how to spell it) that helps to open the lungs but has some bad long term use side effects.

Does any no the proper name of this steroid and any information about it.

I want to fight in the ring again but my asthma is really getting to me, and was suggested to use it but with caution.

Are you talking about this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prednisolone? If so, you should not have posted it here as nobody would really know anything about it because this site is for information about anabolic/androgenic steroids, not corticosteroids which are completely different.

You are talking about Prednisone (prednisolone is a metabolite of it) which is the mainstay oral corticosteroid.........not an anabolic steroid, completely different in its effects. Do some research just google or wiki prednisone.

Its not a first line asthma drug, its generally reserved for acute exacerbations and short term. Long term use has a number of bad side effects.

First line for asthma - beta agonists (Albuterol for ex.), Atrovent, inhaled corticosteroids (different and much safer than Prednisone)...others Advair, Singulair...many more
