Sust amps

Got a bunch of sust amps that need to be scored. Any ideas how to do this safe???
With whats on hand at the house ??

Well several things you can use. PEte and some of the other guys made some great suggestions for breaking amps. I use a small metal file to score the amp, then I use my amp opener to open it. YOu can buy amp operners from most respected Needle companies. Pete suggested using the top of a bic pen. I have never tried it, like I said I use my amp opener. My opener does have a scoring blade, but I found that it got dull after about 6 or 7 amps, so now I just use it to break the tops off and use my metal file to score the edges.

score it with a steak knife and pop it with a pen cap

i score on mine also.then i wrap it in a paper towel and pop the top.i need to invest in an amp opener.ive never heard of the pen cap thing. how does that work? Madmax

I used a leatherman tool
The shreaded blade in it worked pretty well.
ill buy a amp opener just to be a lil more careful

Have you ever taken a clothes hangar or a wire and bent it one way then bent it back the other way then bent it back the other way until it eventually breaks. The same principle applies to vials believe it or not.

Hold it in one hand. Try to break off the neck with the other. If it doesn't snap off turn the bottle 180 degrees and do it again. Keep turning the bottle 180 degrees and trying to snap the neck off. I guarantee you it won't take more than 3 or 4 tries until it snaps right off. TRY IT !!! IT'S EASY !!!

I want someone out there to go and try this method and post what happens here on this thread. Don't just take my word for it - go do it !!

Just rap the bottom with some kind of tape to keep from shattering. Then I score it with a seratted knife, slide a pen cap over it and snap it off. Haven't broke one amp doing it this way.
