The Manitowoc County Drug Unit busted a major international drug operation in the Village of Reedsville.
The U.S. Postal Service tipped police off to the operation within the past two weeks after U.S. Customs intercepted some chemicals addressed to 325 Mill Street.
Officers had the package delivered, then both federal and local authorities carried out the raid at the home Wednesday afternoon.
Inside the found what they suspect is human growth hormone (HGH), Viagra, and Cialis.
They also found drug-making equipment like two pill presses, two mills, washers, chemical dryers, and two 55-gallon drums containing chemicals.
Lt. Mark Anderson of the Manitowoc County Metro Drug Unit tells Action 2 News the operation was purchasing bulk chemicals and drugs from manufacturers in China.
"They would manufacture different types of pills, I believe generic forms of Viagra and then some growth hormone-type pills like steroid -type pills I'd call it. They were manufactured, packaged, and sold over the Internet," Manitowoc County Sheriff Rob Hermann said.
Authorities believe the suspects were adding flavoring to the generic drugs.
Investigators say the suspects were doing $1,000 to $2,000 a day in business.
Members of the Metro Drug Unit say this raid is unlike any other it's ever executed in Manitowoc County.
"A lot of equipment they had was large-scale manufacturing equipment, things that we would typically not see during the normal course of our business," Detective Sergeant Pete McGinty of the Two Rivers Police Department said.
"In 25 years I've never seen such an operation. We've conducted search warrants in marijuana grow houses, crystal meth labs, meth cathedone manufacturing. I've never seen anything like this in 25 years," Sheriff Hermann said.
We're told a man and a woman were in the home when that search warrant was executed.
Authorities tell us the pair is being cooperative and they were released from custody. Federal charges against the two are expected to be filed.
Police say the two didn't live in the Reedsville house -- that the house was strictly used for making drugs. According to the Metro Drug Unit, this illegal operation is believed to have been going on inside the home for at least six months.
Police say the operation took up the first and second floors of the small house, as well as the entire basement and garage.
Investigators also say they also searched the suspects' home in the Appleton area and seized more pills and a computer.
Local police couldn't give an estimate of how long it might take for federal prosecutors to file charges. Lab tests are being done on the chemicals that were found.
According to a media release from the Manitowoc County Metro Drug Unit, local officers along with agents from the federal Food and Drug Administration and agents from the office of the U.S. Postal Inspector raided the home, while Reedsville police, Drug Enforcement Administration agents, and State Crime Lab technicians assisted at the scene.
No other arrests are expected.

They where not a steroid dealer, and the items they had are not illegal to poses without an **,, and are NOT controlled, however, importing and selling pharmacuiticals is a big NO-NO for the FDA, which was the main org that performed the raid..., The guy and his GF where interogated and Let go.. without bail or anything.. its a serious offence, but they will probably just get a huge fine and community service.

Having 800mg Motrin is "illegal" to possess with out a precription...although you would be hard pressed to find someone that will actually charge you for it unless you are already in some sort of trouble and they want to stick it to you. Viagra and cialis are the same way. They can write up possession charges for those and also distribution charges as well

Anyone ever hear of Rush Limbaugh getting busted with something like 28 viagra pills in a bottle with someone else's name on it? He has the kinda money that buys your way out of a charge like that anyway....just as an example

They said in the article they had (suspected) HGH which is controlled and have heafty penalties if found to be importing and distributing

Ever watch the show DEA on spike... they offer reduced charges or for them to go away all together if the suspect turned into a CI.... hmmm

as much as i dont like the laws on steroids the dea just does what its told to do/trained to do.. to them if its illegal its illegal end of story....but they should lighten up on juice and go after what really is posinng our country the real hardcore drygs (you all know what im talkin about) and leave the good stuff to us lol..

When you have one cop on duty at a time we are now becoming safe havens for these guys because unless someone actually sees them cooking it the cops will never get called. And yes, its federally ILLEGAL to carry someone Else's **.. thats a fact, but if it was obtained without an **, which u can do, possession is not illegal,, now, this may vary from state to state.. Ive been hearing from the grapevine that he might actually have a licence to sell the research chems, Im suspecting, as with another research chem company busted last year, that IF he did indeed have a licence, charges(if any will be filed, since NONE have been filed!) will be dropped, unless he violated state laws.

well i hate to see this happen and i do agree they should be spending money/time on more serious crime such as murders, rapist, child molesters of that sort!
buttt this is a risk we all take when dealing with illegal (w/o script) drugs. they knew they were committing a crime from the start and they took the risk to make big money and got caught. I do feel for them but...shit happens
For them the High dollar $ out weighed the chances of getting in trouble.

Steroids do kill. Cause heart disease, liver damage, depression upon cessation, etc. etc. Drugs are drugs. Granted steroids are safe when not abused but then again so is heroin.

Back to the topic. Research chems are not controlled substances. If everything tests out to not be AAS he should be ok. May catch charges for the pill press but should make out ok with a good lawyer.

Steroids dont make people drop dead like street drugs or potentially asprin but it can shorten lifespans over the long haul. Primarily by lowering HDL levels and raising LDL and VLDL levels accelerating artheriosclerosis. I know someone that died of an aneurysm at 27 that was a regular steroid user. Sure you could say its genetics, but why not call a spade a spade? Know the dangers you are dabbling in and dont walk around in denial.

No matter what we say or Do they will always be busting someone who isnt doing something in accordance with the law. Society is awesome that way. In fact they aren't busting people to make the streets safer No .. No not at all.. they are doing it for what now ladies and gentlemen... of course the same thing the dealers they busted for... MONEY !!! The Judicial System is nothing but one big Business... Money making conglomerate to put it more frank. But I don't know why I am saying this... It's basically beating a dead Horse... everyone already knows this and are probably sick of hearing it... but I just thought I would say it again.
