need info on methanol

I am doing a chemisty project(cough,cough) and i need to get ahold of some methanol. Where can i purchase this. Its not illegal so i'm not asking for a source. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unless I am mistaken, Methanol is alcohol distilled from corn or wood pulp. Check out hardware stores.

Hmmm I'd go a step further if I were you. Beyond not drinking it, do not inhale the fumes, specially if you heat it up (remember, alcohol boils at a low temp). Check out paint stores (or a safety equipments supply store like Acklands-Grainger) for a respirator rated for wood/grain alcohol fumes... or at the very least work in a VERY well ventilated area.

Last thing you need is lung dammage or wood alcohol blindness

Its a yellow bottle called "Heet". You can find it at Kragens or any auto parts store. Its used as a gasline antifreeze, $1.09/12oz bottle.

make sure it's not isopropyl, and denatured... thats no good. you can also look for a good chemical supply, or distill yourself. you might also want to try just pure ethanol, i dont know what you are doing, but ethanol is fine for a lot of stuff where methanol is used, for good ethanol i like distilling the ethanol from cheap vodka (popov) or everclear if i need the 190 proof stuff... no easy way of getting 200 proof tho
