    Cardio in swimming pool..

Sup fellas..I always switch up my cardio workout stepmaster one day, spinning the next, then running etc etc. But I want to start doing some cardio in a pool, but have no idea how to. Obviously I know swimming back and forth helps, but any swimmers out there got any advice for a rookie? thanks

I used to swim underwater one lap and than stop, run in place for a minute and swim a lap as fast as possible. Take a 30 second break and repeat. I was half dead when I did that 15 times

    Pool Workout

I can give you my swim programme if you like mate. Ive swum all my life and like to push myself in the pool and change my swim programme every few weeks, train in the pool twice a week but every day closer to my events. Im doing an outdoor lake swim in September.

Swimming is GREAT cardio and an overall workout or warm up/cool down how ever you want to use it. I WISH I could stand swimming in a pool. I think it must be my ADD but I HATE swimming in a pool, I get bored quickly. I cant sit in the sauna either more than 5 minutes. I can only do a jacuzzi if Im at home with a girl and a drink....

I know what you mean lovybts. Thats why i have a Speedo Aquabeat. When you swim distances it really does help. I tend to shut off, listen to my music and its a great way to de-stress and let my head sort stuff out while my body does its thing.

Approach it the same way you do any other cardio. The ultimate goal is to get your heart rate up.

Either swim laps a a medium/slow pace for 30-60 minutes, or do 5-15 sets of high intensity intervals.

    hi funk,

yeah,i do that now.i swim sets of 30mins lengths then rest, change stroke,do it again, then some drills and finish with sprints. i change it about weekly so i dont get used to it and always push myself.
