Thread: MMA and keeping gains

    Question MMA and keeping gains

If I train MMA six day a week and lift four, will I lose my gains post cycle (granted my PCT is spot on) if I keep up with my rigorous training? I know cardio is usually a big no no post cycle. It will be a test/eq cycle.

Sorry... more background. 5 weeks in and gained 15 pounds so far. Am keeping to 40/30/30 ratio at 3800 cals/day. PCT will be nova/comid and I am running letro throughout (big mistake because my sex drive is non-existent).

wow, that is some pretty heavy gains in only 5 weeks!?

are you trying to move up a weight class?

yeah... I am trying to move up, hence the test. I originally planned for it to be a 10 weeker but I'm going to cut it short at 8 because of the large gains already. I just want to hold on to as much as possible post cycle

out of curiousity...what class are you moving into? And why moving up? ive only ever moved down weight class when i was competiting alot

155 to 170. I want to to test myself in a higher weight class. That's it. I know it seems counterintuitive but it's what I want to do.

I do MMA also bro, and I did a cycle, from all the cardio and sweat, you loose a hell of a lot of weight, and if you try eating more and taking protein shakes, you gain weight but loose it rite back

Unless your goal is to fight above your weight class.

Your weight will fluctuate from gaining weight and loosing it. I was hella solid while on cycle, but when I began my pct and all that sweat, I lost weight and muscle.

agreed. when training hard to gain weight i cannot train mma. i simply lose pounds. i cant eat enough to make up for the deficit, too much sweating, over heating, man... its just tough news. Once was at 207lb and had a fight at 205 in a month. By the time of the fight i was 193. SUCKED.

I trained MMA and jiu jitsu..... was sitting at about 215lbs. I entered a jiu jitsu tourney and dropped to 185lbs. I'd say i was about 12% BF when i started to lose the weight...... right after the tourney i wanted my size and fullness back. Everything seemed flat..... it was just TOO hard to do while training all the damn time - i have to eat like a monster as it is to grow..... let alone while training in MMA/Jiu jitsu. I've since given it up and concentrated on weightlifting.

I definately agree with keeping your cycle at 10 weeks - just run a proper PCT and keep eating..... your going to lose some size..... it's a part of training hard in this sport. A lot of hard work for sure! You should keep some of your gains tho......
