Cortizone Injection
So i have to get 4 cortizon shots into my lower back tommorrow for some nagging pain ive had for sometime due mostly to the nature of my work. so my two questions are
1. has anyone ever had these shots or have any opinions if they will help and if there are any long or short term side effects.
2. they of course want to know of any meds or otc drugs i am taking. and since im on a test-deca should i bring that up or should that not be a problem considering the nature of the cortizone injections.
thanks

should be no harmful interactions,, suprised the deca hasnt helped with the pain though.
cortizone is always gonna help short term, i believe cortisone has some harmful long term sides like brittle bones and i thnk linked to some cancers.

Yea, i was thinking also that about the deca . i am taking 300mg a week of it though. But the pain i feel is in the lower back muscle. i workl as a truck/delivery driver and when i get to my first stop within 10minutes my lower back is on fire to the point where i cant breath sometimes. im on painkillers to help manage it but doesnt always help.

Never had any cortisone injections but no a bit about them. They purely remove the inflammation which is the main cause of pain. Chemical mediators (prostaglandins etc) attach to pain receptors lowering the threshold potential causing hyperalgesia/allodynia.
Basically IMO they treat the symptoms not the cause. If they work it tends to be on a temporary basis and you really need to address the underlying pathology if you really want any long term effect. If you are a bodybuilder a lot of LBP is due to overactive mobilizers with weak stabilizers. IMHO weight training chronic LBP conditions can be effectively treated by addressing core stability and exercising stabilizing muscles such as multifidus (Pilates for example). This is however a generalization and with out having more subjective/objective information this info should not be seen as a panacea for all LBP.

Cortizones main problem is that it can have a detrimental effect on cartilage tissue especially articular cartilage. You should avoid any heavy lifting activities for 2 weeks post injection.
