Getting ready for a long run, need help

    Hello,
I still have not decided on what I am going to start a cycle with. I have been working on getting in the best possible shape I can without any help. My problem is, I am applying for a job with the Sheriffs department and have to do a 1.5 mile run in like 13 minutes, which isn't that hard, but I want to stand out and blaze through it and leave everyone in the dust. What would be the best to help me with this. Thanks in advance!

I'm in the birtish armed forces and run 1.5 mile in 8.09 minutes at the moment.

I go running everymorning with 20 pounds on my back and go running up hill doing hill sprints and omce a week do a 11 mile run.

Basically, invest in a ipod and run !

Yeah, aaron is right. All you really need to do is run. Try some days running a mile and a half and do that as fast as you can. And other days do some sprinting, and some other days during the week you're going to want to run longer distances. The key are those sprints, because although your not going to be running that for your test, it's going to help build fast twitch muscle fibers that will help your endurance, help you lose weight, and at the end of the run, be the first one through the finish line.

So, basically what you guys are saying is run! Well, I guess that is what I will do. That is obviously #1 on the list anyways and I appreciate all the help. I have some time to get ready so I guess I know what I need to do. Thanks everyone.
