17aa refers to the alkylation of a streroids base structure. Basically this means that at the 17th alpha position of the bs(hence 17aa), a hydrogen atom is replaced with a carbon atom.
The purpose of this is to make the steroid resistant to being broken down in the liver, therefore allowing it to be administered orally. Many believe that these drugs put a certain amount of stess on the liver due to this fact. Anandrol, D-bol, winny and anavar are all 17aa.
