Injection Site Soreness
I did my first Test Cyp injection two days ago. 1cc into right quad using 1" 23 gauge. There was no pain during the injection, but the next morning I had some soreness around the injection site as well as a lump about the size of my hand, but no redness. It got a little worse as the day went on and the pain has plateaued, but is still there. It is not so sore that I can't take it, but it is constant and nagging. Any idea how long this will last?Is it possible to avoid this in the future? I know some soreness is common, but I'd rather make sure that I am experiencing the common soreness and not any un-common soreness.
I am pretty sure my gear is legit, but it was my first ever injection so maybe I did it wrong somehow. I followed the sticky from the forum on how to do it, but it is still possible I effed up somehow.
Anyway, any advice on this is mucho appreciated.Last edited by avitar290; 03-18-2009 at 06:43 PM.

Soreness is somewhat normal, a lump the size of your hand is not. It's not hot to the touch is it?

I checked the temp of my injection site leg and my other leg with the back side of my hand and they both felt the same temp. No flu like symptoms. I say lump for the lack of a better term. It really looks like the oil is under the skin, which is weird because I stuck it all the way in. Oh, and yes I did asperate. Maybe I didn't do enough. How far should I pull the plunger back?

asperation is just to check if you hit a vein.. did it bleed more then a pea size when you pulled out the needle?? you may have gone through a vein

Quick update...the "lump" is not as big as my hand. It's more like baseball sized.

Sure, I was in a seated position. I opened a fresh needle, removed the cap, drew in 2cc's of air, held cyp bottle upside down, inserted needle into bottle, injected air into Cyp, drew a little over 1cc of Cyp, removed needle from bottle, tapped on needle and pushed on plunger to remove air bubbles, once air was removed, I swabbed the injection site with alcohol, then stretched skin with left hand being careful not to touch injection site, pushed needle all the way into leg, pulled on plunger to check for blood, saw no blood, slowly injected cyp pushing plunger till it stopped, removed needle, swabbed injection site with alcohol, pulled up pants.
BTW, thanks for all the help. The soreness seems to be subsiding a bit, I will keep this thread updated as much as possible so anyone else can see what you might expect from your first injection.

This most likely has nothing to do with it...but use two needles..one to draw the juice one to inject it..i like using a 18 g 1 1/2 inch to draw..then depending on the spot using another needle.

Thats a perfect injection. The only thing i would've done differently is change the pin after i loaded.
Other than that...Perfect.
Can you post a pic? So we can see the site? Maybe take one of the other leg as well for comparasion sake.

I was gonna post the same thing today haha... had my first injection yesterday, did everything the same except i changed needles after drawing. 23 1.5 in the glute, no pain all day really yesterday, but today its gotten progressively worse throughout the day.... i can't even sit down straight, nearly to the point its giving me a slight limp. I don't know how the hell i'm going to squat tomorrow, i can't even do a knee pull to my chest at this point...
One thing I noticed is that its really hard to aspirate with a glute injection while keeping the needle still, especially if I go to my non-dominant side. Could that be it? I figure the more the needle moves when its inside, the more trauma its going to cause.

I got some of the same. I just injected myself for the first time ever, with 250 mg (1ml) of Test-E, into the right vastus lateralis. Did everything sterile, swapped needles etc, didnt hurt a bit while i was doing it, though i was nervous so the needle moved around a bit inside.
After one day it hurt slightly bad, was limping a bit etc, but it was managable. Today I just got up, after waking up twice cos of the pain throughout the night. The legs pretty stiff now, and its pretty painful even when I sit or lie down. I can't really put any weight on it without making a grimace, hehe. Going to work (as training instructor..... ****) in a few hours. Hurts like hell atm. There's no lump nor redness.
I've heard its normal to be sore after first injection, but how sore is normal? Heh. I'm gonna limp through the day. Time to come up with an excuse.

UPDATE: Good news guys. The pain has significantly subsided. There is still a little swelling, but it is going down. Thanks for all the VERY helpful and informative info. It was good to see other people that were having the same issue and could get help from this thread.

I would put some ice on it to reduce the swelling for about 15 minute & then a hot rag on it for about 10 minute. That would help w/ the pain & bring down the swelling. u will be fine in about 2 days.
