No it doesnt. You probably just went through a vain on the way in, if you had injected into a vain you would be sure to feel it..

    So nothing to worry about

As a paramedic i can assure you your fine. like some people told you its possible you went through a vein, but unlikely. more like capillary and venules then venus blood. also if you are using a larger gauge then you will bleed sometimes. shoulders tend to bleed more than buttocks and thighs. i wish I could tell the science behind that but I have no idea why. could be less fat is the most likely reason. if you notice it happening a lot more then try different gauges and see what works.

    I have a question:

What would happen if you inject into a vein?

Also if you pull on the plunger and blood comes into the needle(meaning you hit a vain) what should you do?

    Sorry for that

if you inject and you get blood return immediately pull the needle out and hold pressure for about 3-5minutes. then find a new spot. if you continue to inject even though you see blood we'll here the scream from across the planet. in other words it will hurt and you will be very sorry. plus compounds meant for IM or Sub-Q, if injected into a vein directly without a flush or IV can cause tissue necrosis or phlebitis which is a fancy way to say tissue death and vein inflammation. all require a good trip to the MD's office for antibiotics for the infection you will get.

I have a similar question. It has happened to me twice now, again about 15mins ago when i had my shot. I inj in my glutes, aspirate when i stick the needle in and proceed when there is no blood. Once i have finished injecting i aspirate again, and there was a bit of red blood when i did. I find it difficult holding the needle straight, but for the most part i keep it steady. Where is the blood from? It can't be that i've hit an artery, because there's no real pain.

Blood vessel, and why do you aspirate after injection?

When you pierce through the muscles it is lined with blood vessels the needle rips through causing blood to surround the muscle as the gear gets injected and you pull out pressure causes the blood to rise up and come out of the puncture.

Do you know what an artery is?

Guys its not rocket science, you are sticking a 1.5 inch needle into your body over and over, of course you are going to hit blood vessels, go figure its the human body and you are injecting into the muscle where blood runs to supply oxygen and nutrients.
