I wouldn't take that stuff. Just eat before bed for christs sake.
Don't take everything jiggaman says seriously. Mirtazapine will make you hungry and help with weight gain, but it is an antidepressant to which your body develops tissue dependance. While it is a relatively mild antidepressant, it is a psychoactive drug with lots of potential side effects. Drugs are not the answer for you. Just eat before bed and then when you wake up.
I have to agree, I was on Mirtazapene for it's intended Anti-depressant purposes, prescribed by a doctor, and it worked just fine at leveling my moods out at the time (A few years back now). However, whilst on it I felt somewhat zombified, never really feeling 'alive' and never completely with-it. It also negatively impacted my sex-drive,- which is a big no-no!! It did help me sleep and increased my appetite, somewhat, and my moods levelled out, which was important at the time,- but I'd never supplement with it now, least of all to avoid a bit of night time catabolism, the negative sides are just not worth it. This is my experience, but the sides I mention are also the most typical and common side effects of the drug,- particularly the lowered sex drive...nasty.
After thought,- worrying to much about a little bit of catabolism will, ironically, only make you dump more cortisol, and increase your, err, catabolim. So don't worry about it, best thing you can do is try not to get stressed during the day & just think happy thought when you go to bed, that's probably the best anti-catabolic tactic of all. :-)
