just done something really silly
Done my second jab today, brother done first, was a bit of a nightmare, broke an amp of test so now have gotta order more! Then, when i was getting in position to make the stick i dropped the loaded syringe on the floor, i know i should of changed the pin, but i was already pissed at braking an amp and i'd already put away all my gear so i stuck it anyway. I know i know, very stupid, i guess this increases my chances of an infection. Not sure why i am even posting this, suppose i am hoping someone is going to tell me its gonna be alright . . . anyone?

An ounce of prevention goes along way, you only live once right? might as well have fun and make a good go of it, instead of sitting in the hospital geting a chunk of your ass removed because you were to lazy to do something right.

how hard would it have been to get an alcohol swab and wipe the needle, or just switch it??
Well, good luck to you, you will be OK one way or another.... just keep a close eye on it !!

relax
those pics are a worst case scenario. he was told numerous times it wasn't an abscess so it was left untreated. nothing antibiotics couldn't have treated initially.
let this be a learning experience tho. i bet you'll take a little more precaution next time.

I personally know someone who had this happen to them. His glute looked the same. It will always look that way. They can't close it up. To the original poster, switch the damn needle next time! It takes about 60 sec. I got an infection once (not because I dropped the needle on the ground) and had to go to the ER. Take precautions bro. Don't take chances.

as well as can be expected when your thinking about your arse getting sliced open, thanks. 1st day of anxiety hell and no signs of infection, guess tomo will be judegment day. On a lighter note am up 8 lbs already just 7 days in, trying to focus on that as opposed to peachfuzzes cruel sense of humour.

Those pics just ruined my breakfast.
But to the OP, just keep an eye on it, if you experience any symptoms of infection get yourself straight down to the doctor and get some antibiotics.
The only way you'll end up with a horror story outcome is if you don't do something about the infection.
So try not to stress too much.
My friend (a nurse) was there when they removed a guy's ear because he got a piercing, it got infected, he didn't think twice about it cause it was only an ear piercing, didn't do anything about the infection until it spread and well yeah...off with the ear.
Moral of the story, these kinds of terrible outcomes only happen when infections aren't treated and are allowed to spread.

He knows he did wrong, and I respect him for posting this up in the forum, knowing he could of got flamed lol.
Plus it makes other readers aware of how important it is to change pins.
It will be alright, just make sure it doesnt become red, or sensitive to touch, if it does, just get some antibiotics, keep in mind your doctor may slap you for doing that.
lol

^^ Indeed..... After reading the first post... Flame is definitely next to come.... Shit happens... Definitely change the pin next time.....
Those pics.... Are F*ing disgusting.......... I was eating a quick meal before I go watch tv before bed.... AND WOW... I think I lost my appetite.
The second one if you squint a tiny bit looks like a nasty v***na. Roast beef anyone?
-
Glad someone posted pictures like that. Like you can see when you get an infection deep into the muscle its not pretty. Hopefully now you see spending another 15 seconds on changing the pin is well worth it.

I just dont get it. People will spend $$$$$$ on their gear, go through all kinds of risk to get it, then store it in a dirty sock or some place unsanitary, be cheap ass and use either NOTHING to sanitize or a cheap cotton ball that has been exposed to every germ in the bathroom drawer and not change a possibly contaminated needle when a box of sterile alcohol swabs are like $5 and a freaking syringe is $0.25??? WTF is wrong with you guys?
I do my injection AFTER a good shower. Even though my gear is kept in a CLEAN drawer or my safe in a box I wipe it each time with a sterile swab and clean the crap out of my injection site before pinning.
WHY do people take these chances. One screw up can set you back months or years.

Peach, those pics are awesome! i think sometimes u need scare tactics to make people realise how important it is to keep things sterile and to prove the point that this is a mans game, not some quick fix joke etc. and lovbyts, i agree with u once again lol! u keep taking the words right out my mouth lol

Do you really think i didn't change the pin cos of the cost, all my ancillaries were free, it was a moment of madness as stated above, the problem was I DIDN'T think. MattUK666 and timguyperson, thanks for your more hopeful posts, day two after jab and only some soreness and a little swelling to report, fingers crossed still.
-
05-18-2009, 06:03 AM #34
The first sign of any soreness I would be headed to the doctor or hospital. One or the other. You wait too long and you COULD be another one of those photo sets for other people to learn from. If you're worried about telling anyone of an official nature, take a ***** blade, nick yourself, and say you sat on a sharp piece of metal or something. Drastic measure but it gives you a plausible excuse.

In your case maybe no but if you read enough you will see there are some cheap asses on here who do. They just dont really think about the risk verses the .25 cost. I'm not saying you did it because of cost but you did it without thinking. Yes it was in a moment of madness but doing something like this there should NEVER be that moment. Look at the consequences/risks. I understand where you are coming from. Yes I'm trying to make you feel like a dumb ass. If it will save you from looking like the above pics then feel free to to call me an ass
Really, I just wanted to get your attention and hopefully someone elses who might make the same mistake or not think about it before doing the same.
I hope everything is fine and you dont have any problems.
BTW have you read this post yet? prop pain or abcess follow-up
-
05-18-2009, 07:41 AM #36
Yeah no worries lovbyts, understand what you done there, and what others have during this post, just didn't want to be known as a cheap ass. Yeah read that post, i have pretty much read every post accross three forums on infections/abcesses, i have some anxiety issues, am a big dweller/worrier. You can be sure from now on 'sterile' will be my middle name. Prob gonna go docs tomo morning aswell as a precautionary measure.

Im sorry what? You have some swelling?
I hope your ok...I really would watch that, ive done many injections now, and ive never had any swelling.
Not even had soreness, I just get the normal ache from the oil, but thats normal.
What kind of soreness do you have bro?
-
05-18-2009, 10:57 AM #38
P.S. I just read that your on Prop - Ive never taken prop so Im unaware of the soreness, ive heard its painful, so your soreness is probably normal.

Syringes
New needles and pins everytime.Alcohol wipes at the injection site.Never had an infection yet. Post's like this one scares me.And that infection is crazy. Not worth the 20$ for 100 syringes??????Man,if it touches anything but your ass, after it gets opened up,"JUNK IT".Good luck.Titanium
