is androstenedione considered a steroid?

some say its a steroid some say its a precursor to steroids, which is it?

it says "Androstenedione is a naturally occurring androgenic steroid that is produced by the adrenal glands, ovaries, and testicles."

im not using it personally, but i need to use it as a reference in a paper. can it be considered a steroid?

both. it is a steroid but it is also a precursor (prohormone) of male and female sex hormones. much like testosterone is a steroid but also a precursor to dht.

yes it is a steroid.There are only two kinds of hormones steriods and peptides,even cholesterol is a steriod
