    Another abcess photo

My friends ass after 3 days of antibiotics. They want to admit him to the hospital but he wont go. The skin is soft. it causes abrasions when he peels the tape off the dressing. The urgent care doc said merca is rampant. Keep wounds fully covered in the gym.

hes in alot of pain. Cant sit cant sleep pretty much since thursday. Also thanks for spell checking us on that. I googled to confirm mrsa I guess stands for something. I was spelling how it sounded to me. I'm hooked on phonics, what can I say.

If that infection gets into his blood the chance of him dying is VERY high. He needs to quit being an ass and get to the ER. If it was MRSA though, the way that looks I'd think he'd be dead by now. Buddy of mine got it in his elbow and he was VERY touch and go. It's nothing to play with.

No worries on the spell checking. I knew what you were talking about. I'm the last guy to nitpick someone's typing.

that's my question. Is this something to worry about even if you do it the right way?
I use a new sterile 23ga.needle to draw, and then a new sterile 25ga to inject. always swabbing the amp or rubber stopper on vial before drawing and before putting away. If the needle touches anything beside my clean, alcohol prepped injection spot I always change the needle. If i pin and hit a nerve or a vain I pull out, change the needle and prep new site and inject. I'm seeing more and more of these pics, and they got me quite nervous.

WTF anyone refusing to go to the doctor with something like that is just plain stupid. If the outcome turns out bad it's hard to say he didn't deserve it.

I have been here for many many years and have helped countless peeps with infections...

Infection is No JOKE .. Staph can be 2 microns or less ( thats some scary shit),,

I agree with you about a sticky or something with some pics of some infections , but I am not sure how much it would help .. First off newbies tend not to even read stickies ( trust me on this . I have wrote a lot of stickies on many boards .. It a GREAT concept , but the problem is getting peeps to read them , mostly newbies)...

In the case of a sticky covering the topic of all the problems that can occur and all the precautions that can be done to try to avoid a infection is a GREAT idea .... But unfortunately peeps would mostly not even read the info until it was too late and they already have a serious infection..

Oh well just my 2 cents on that .. Infections suck .....

He is completely stupid for not being admitted to the hospital, although I think that right now you are at a higher risk getting MRSA, VRE, or C-Diff in the hospital, the physician at the urgent care could have done a culture and tested him for all of the above. Depending on the strand on infection only certain antibiotics will work, which is why he needs to have the area cultured and tested by a lab. Not to mention he is putting everyone in his home at risk as well if he does have an infection.

Yep , the right anti MUST be used ... Keflex ( AKA fishflex) is usually used , but must be determined by the treating physician . Could be flubitus ( or cellulitis ) , but without a lab test is is hard to say .....

He really needs to go to the hospital .. This can be life threatening ( not just loss of limb)..

    Good post Kats Meow ..
