Oh shit - Abscess - Help!

Ok,

Went to shoot in my shoulder and when I aspirated - puss filled about 1ml of the syringe - I thought great now what. There is no swelling redness or heat in the abscess area.

Next day I aspirated 2.5 cc of brown goo (blood and pus?) from the same area and followed it up with injection of 300,000 iu of penicillin in the same place. I have penicillin G on hand as a precaution.

My temp is 99 and I feel fine but i have two problems.

1 - My OTHER shoulder (injection 3 days ago) is warm a little swollen and has a red area that extends about 4-5 inches below the injection site - I didn't give it much attention cause every shot of sust that I've take has the same impact on me for about 4-5 days after the injection. Should I be worried - or when should I be worried?

2 - what to do now?

Red and swollen ... With a temp ... I would get it checked out .. We have dealt with quite a few abscesses here ... they are no joke .. it is better to get it checked out rather than be sorry later .

I would say continue to take penisilun for a few days and see if it gets better. If they don't or if they get worse get to the doc

Go to the dr rt now even if you have to go to an er . You need to have this treated by a medical professional before more serious damage occurs. Abcess's can lead to death.

Chuck - not swollen or knotted or painful at all. I had no idea until I aspirated. Its a little sore now - but I've jabbed myself in the same spot like 4 times in a row in the last day.

Its obvious that there is an abcess. Im guessing but it sounds like the infestion has killed the nerves in the infected area and that is why there is no pain.

Brown goo - I'm sure a mix of blood and pus - I actually took it for a good sign as the area was not pure puss like when I discovered it the first time.
