40 yr old roid virgin...
Hello all. Great forum. First post. Not sure whether to post in NEW MALE or OVER 40 so I am posting here! I am trying to speed up my muscle recovery time so that I can get more workouts in per week. My workout is not your typical run and lift weights, but it is very intense in cardio and really targets desired muscles. I ride/race dirt bikes for fun and exercise. I go for an hour straight at as hard of a pace as my body can handle. I would like to do this 5 days a week but can only handle 2-3 times a week due to not being able to recover fast enough. I have tried to squeeze in more days and push through to the next level but the end result is becoming worn down with a longer recovery. A couple years ago I came across a one month supply of Anavar . Though the dosage was low and the cycle was short, I really felt stronger and more energized while taking them and for a few months after. I am thinking about doing a full cycle of Anavar with the goal of getting me to the next level of fitness so that I can keep up my exercise routine after coming off. I am not interested in getting bigger. I just need a little more strength and endurance. Any wisdom to point me in any direction appreciated!
Age: 40
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 195
Body Fat: 14-16%
Diet: Vegan (Please don't tell me to eat meat for a magical protein I am lacking) I get my protein mostly from soy and soy supplements but also a wide variety of beans etc... (I am not a bead-sucking hippie.) I eat too many carbs but can cut back if needed and I am pretty sure I will start a gluten-free diet before/if I start the Anavar (other recomendations...?) I also drink about a gallon of water a day.
Any questions or other info you need let me know.
Thanks again for reading and all suggestions welcome.

Just run a test cycle and it doesnt even have to be a high dose one if you just wanna get a little stonger and feel better. Id get your blood levels checked first by doc.

Had blood levels checked. Liver, cholesterol and all else fine. I will certainly consider test cycle. Thanks for input.

I think if you have your blood work done and have them check your test levels you will get put on TRT testosterone replacement therapy....

Welcome...And i agree, test is best.

Definitely test is the best and only thing you should take for that, IF you actually needed to take something. A vegan's diet has never been famous for althetes or sports enthusiasts, so yes you will always be lacking in the performance department due to it. It's a cut for a cut sadly.

Cool. Thanks guys. That is a direction I was not considering due to not wanting to bulk up. How low would a LOW dose be at my weight and for how long? What about test/anavar ? Waste of money/time?

steroids do NOT MAKE you bulk up. This is a great Myth. They WILL help IF your food intake is to bulk
FOOD is the key. So, how much you bulk or not is determined by your food intake.
You could be a candidate for HRT therapy if you are willing to go that route, then everything would be monitored for you and you can do low dose test.

HRT therapy huh? Could I go to a doctor and just be honest and expect to be put on therapy? To tell you the truth I think I could find better answers based on real life experiences on this forum than from a "legit" doctor. Would be great if I could get the results I am after from HRT and have insurance pay for it. I will look into it further, but test and anavar are still on the top of my list.

This is an idea of a low dose cycle I put together and want to run past you guys.
Test E 50-100mg once a week (1.5" 25g)
Anavar 70/140-week (5/10mg morn 5/10mg night)
2-4 months
Keeping goals in mind from original post, what comments do you have on dosage and length of cycle?

There are docs out there that do specialize in HRT... Like was pointed out by TMOS its a routh...
The most you will be scripted in 20mg of var OR 20mg halo (ED) OR 200 mg of test cyp.
If money is not an issue get a legal script to avoid the bull shit from people.
@ 40 there are so many different things you can do. For a first cycle Test + an oral is a good way to go.
Please also keep in mind drinking alcohol (most of us older guys think been there done that) while taking orals may F your liver up real quick.
I dont really understand what
"Anavar 70/140-week (5/10mg morn 5/10mg night)"
Means ?
The test level of 50-100mg WAY WAY LOW

Well before I order anything I will go talk to a specialist. Maybe I will be surprised in how things turn out as opposed to going to a general dr.
By Anavar 70/140 I meant mg's a week taken two times daily in either 5 or 10 mg doses.
If the test level is too low how does 200mg a week sound? Just trying to get information before I do anything. No hurry.
And I really don't drink alcohol much. Maybe a drink every week or two but that would be the easiest thing to give up.

20mg ED or 140mg a week is the HRT dosage for VAR. So you are G2G on that one.
I would be very suprised if 50mg of test did anything. 200MG EW is considered a low dosage a good starting point; many here will tell you do 500mg EW but that is up to you.
Check around your area I am sure you are not the only 40 year old looking into HRT. See what docs in your area are giving scripts.

What would be the best way to go about that? Would it be a sports medicine doctor or ...? My insurance sucks but would still be cheaper and less sketchy. Before I stock up I want to try the HRT but really can't find a good starting point. Anyone know anything I can say to help my chances of getting a scrip or is it mostly based on bloodwork results? Damn this website is getting me pumped! For a second I thought I was living in a free country.

In 2002 there was a doc that services a few guys on the net outta FL but he is long gone. Ironically the HRT doc that I use right now had a stack of cards in our gym..
In the gyms if you stick around long enough you will be able to find some one. Rejuvenation clinics in major urban areas are big. Metro Dallas has a few so does other places in TX. look into those. Doc Scrubs was a good guy in CA but his practice is no longer around. I am not sure where you are but there are docs around and legal means for a 40 year old to get HRT.
It took them long enough women have had HRT since the 1960s its purly sexist that men are held to a diff standard.

Well I contacted a local "Wellness Center" that specializes in TRT. The chat was going great until I asked about insurance. They don't take any, ever. So I got them to ballpark me some average prices and GREAT GOLLY! Lets just say that they wanted more than $1000 and a year in jail. Oh well. Looks like I have about 42 days and 92 posts to go before I officially MIGHT exist in this forum. Thanks for tips so far. I can't believe all that I have learned here already. I read a lot of posts but don't reply much because there really is nothing for me to contribute except questions and I don't want to hijack. Thanks again.

I don't know where you live but you may want to try to look into other clinics in the other close by cities. (just call them though this time...lol)

Did an admin delete my last post?
What was wrong if so?
Mentioned no specifics?
Took a while to type. Could you clean it up and repost it?
Or did it never post?
Sorry guess it was a vague price reference offense.Last edited by V-ROID; 06-06-2009 at 08:42 PM.

Yes unless you are set on doing a high dose cycle of test, you should be able to easily talk your doctor into TRT. or get a referral to a clinic. For the 1st 6 months you will feel like you are on a cycle because your body will not be used to having the test you will be giving it. should work wonders for you!
