Not looking to get big, just need reps.

    Hello Guys/Gals,

By the title you might be confused. I a slim 23 year old male, consistently 170 lbs, 6 feet tall, with highly active metabolism. I have a lot of energy and can move around a lot.

I am not really looking for growth in my muscles, but more reps in floor exercise s0uch as push ups and sit ups.

I have worked out for months on push ups, and hit a cap of around 50 continuous push ups without any gains of anymore reps. I seem to plateau. This with a healthy carido regiment and whey weight gainer and other supplements. This was for about year. AND EATING A LOT!

I stopped I was frustrated and had some health problems. Now I am going to get serious and start again. I wanted to try injections of testosterone (propinate) along side with D-Bol as a first Novice cycle for however long.

Whatever gains of size I get, that is fine and dandy, but I focusing on getting stronger and not so much as getting HUGE as other people are.

I am willing to get back to my plateau and then start my first cycle.

    Any suggestions?

well, you would get stronger, BUT what you are talking about is more endurance training then strength training, and I really don't think you need steroids for that

please detail what EATING A LOT means. keep in mind that bodybuilder eat about 6-8 times a day, so what you consider a lot may not be enough and since you are ONLY 170 lbs, you are about 40-50 lbs from your body's natural potential

i dont really think test will give you everything you need, nor dbol ....

thought of changing your form? going wider pushups? closer? doing core and back work?

if your hand placement for pushups is always the same, you could be hitting MOSTLY chest.

try getting your triceps hit a little harder, etc.

do you do any shoulder work?

pushups are affected by more than JUST chest....

Like they said above, NOT eating a lot and NOT eating the right things.

Steroids are NOT something you to Kick start your workout routine.

Learn to eat, change up your routine, read the diet sections and the workout section.

    ah ok.

as far as diet, i increased my calorie intake from 2000 to 5000 and that was only from weight gaining supplements. shakes and stuff like that. along side of high protein meals. meats and beans. so i didnt even count those calories, so id assume it was far greater than 5000.

I did gain about 10 pounds, which was really cool, but looking at pictures, my face was PUFFY and I thought I looked a little silly. Looking puffy without the big arms or chest...hahha.

During this time, my max bench went from 125 to 150 in one year. I did many other exercises than just floor stuff. Worked on most of the major upper body muscles with basic free weights exercises.

I would let all that testosterone go to waste on just push ups. sorry i wasnt really clear.

So ideally, pure if i was pure muscle I should be 210ish?

That is far too much for some at your size, you ay you don't want to gain a lot of size and with that amount you'll gain a lot of fat. I don't eat that much to grow

Have you been down to the diet forum yet? And since you are primarily focusing in on strength over size the correct workout formula is vital in order to accomplish what you have set out to do so check the workout section and Pinnacles sticky on training techinques.

its very difficult even when i was working out. I never could imagine doing 170 even in my peak of fitness.

If i would try, i could hold it and let it down and try to push it up....NOPE...immediate muscle fatigue and it would sit on my chest until i rolled the weights off the bar.

thank god i dont use clips.

yes, ive lurked in the diet sections a little. current max probably 140ish. i know could hit it twice.

so do you think i need the "cutting formula" (See link UNoffical "How to Cut" thread and sample diet...) instead of the "bulking formula"
