I've been reading posts from guys saying that they're on Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT), meaning that their body isn't producing enough testosterone so they need to take supplemental testosterone (e.g. one shot of Sustanon a month).
I want to know what causes the need for TRT.
I think I understand the following:
When you do a cycle with an AAS such as Sustanon, the amount of testosterone in your blood greatly increases. Your body senses this increase in testosterone, and so tells your testicles to "turn off", meaning:
1) They don't produce as much testosterone
2) They don't produce as much sperm
Have I got that right so far?
You go on a cycle for maybe 10 weeks, and then you come off it. As your testosterone level drops, your body says "Hey the testosterone is getting low so we'll turn the testicles back on".
Have I got that right so far?
So what I'm wondering is this: Where does it go wrong?
Is it all about how long your testicles are "turned off" for? If they're turned off for too long, do they start to degrade?
Since everybody always talks about doing cycles of about 10 weeks in length, it leads me to believe that this is an OK length of time to turn your testicles off for.
So I'm wondering whether the need for TRT just comes about because people stay on a cycle for longer than they should?
Is it possible to do AAS throughout your life, starting at the age of 20 all the way up until you're 60, without damaging your natural testosterone production? I'm only on my first cycle right now, but I'm hoping if I do things correctly, take precautions, don't stay on for too long, then my own natural testosterone production won't be damaged.
