resistance band
As an unexperienced lifter (on and off for about 6 years) my friend has asked me for some advice in regards to training, but i don't know the answer to.
He wants to know if using a resistance band and doing exercises with it to 'train' instead of hitting the gym will make much difference? If he used supplements/gear whilst using the resistance band would he get bigger/strip fat?
I know my post shouldn't be here but this is where most guys are so i was hoping to get a quick answer, as i'm seeing my mate in a few hours time.
Here's an article about resistance band and examples of exercises:

I'm not saying it wouldn't have some benefits, but I don't think you're going to put on alot of muscle with that.

Ok, i spose a resistance band would be better for him to burn fat and cut him and also help on the cardiovascular side?
Even if he has a good diet, enough rest and on gear, you think the resistance band will be pointless?

There are 1,000,000,000,000 things I would do other than resistance bands... I mean, sure they will be better than doing nothing, but if you, or who ever, is on a cycle, I would advise them to make the most of it... There are a lot of body weight workouts that you can find on this thing called Google. Those would be better than bands... Why not go to the gym?

I personally wouldn't waste the gear without being able to train to the best of my ability. Maybe save it until he finds time/dedication to go to the gym, or at least buy some weights. He will make some gains with resistance bands probably, but might not be able to keep them without proper workout. Also it's kind of a wasted cycle imo.

resistant bands are used for muscle rehabilitation and cardio and fat loss induced programs. They provide a very low form of resistance which is why they are great for the above examples. The only thing i would use them for while on cycle is to assist in stretching before and after a workout.

Bands have their place in training, as in being used for accommodating resistance for squats, benches, and deadlifts. They can also be used for pre/rehab exercises and some light extra work, i.e., band pushdowns, good mornings, pull throughs and the like. They aren't really meant to be used AS the workout, rather they are an accessory TO the workout.
But the real question is, why does your friend want to use drugs but not want to go to a gym that has weights? I'm still kinda stumped by that part. If he just can't get to a gym or has an aversion to public places, why doesn't he set up his own gym at home? Failing that, rigging up a way to a shit load of chins and dips would be a trillion times better than just using bands. For lower body he could push his car around the block or something, I don't know.
This is very odd to me.

you won't ever stimulate fiber breakdown with a resistance band.
the only use of bands for us is, if you're pumping up for a show, going to the club, or to the beach, hell I guess even to the grocery store if you're that adamant about it.
